Getting a bird who comes with a kid she prepared earlier is not necessarily a bad idea. You get the kid on probation with no strings and get a chance to see if it is an angel or a demon before making any longer term commitment which is less risky than diving in with your own DNA and ending up in a situation you cannot back out of.

I have met some girls that show absolutely no signs of previously having a child.

And I also know of some girls who have had children at a very early age and have allowed other family members to bring up these children.

Just the fact that some girls fail to mention that they have had children before doesn't mean they are lying and especially if she has no long term intention of involvement with that child. In fact I always insisted about talking about the future instead of the past and with regard to all my past serious relationships and if a girl had a child it really never affected the way I felt about them.

I really think that some girls are scared about the fact they have mothered a child before and by divulging that fact may put at risk a relationship she is trying to nurture.

With regard to my position, (and if a girl I fell in love with and wanted to marry had previously had a child I was not aware of) I would give her the option about bringing the child to stay with us.

In my book, failing to mention, or omitting certain important info like being a parent is tantamount to lying.

Any girl that is not gushing with pride about being a mother, and not telling you about that child is obviously not worth getting involved with. Your milage may differ.

Spin in this life things happen that you can never change ie: unwanted pregnancies and legal adoptions, raped young girls in rural areas etc etc and sometimes the past is best left behind.

All valid and sadly all too often occurencies. Lets not forget that girls in Thailand are sometimes forced to turn to farangs for any number of reasons. Given the choice, most would probably marry and Thai guy. There are many reasons why they dont, or cant. Doesnt mean to say that withholding info to snare a farang is acceptable though.

I am sure most woman would tell their men about a child born to them earlier but obviously would wait until it is the right time.

I did not tell my Aussie kids they had Thai brothers and sisters until I felt it was the right time. As it worked out my timing was perfect and now we are one big happy family.

What if tomorrow she came out tomorrow and said she had a child tucked away somewhere? How would you feel about that? Would it be a game changer?

^ Things happen in life that test everyone's resilience and love for someone who in the past was a total stranger.

Of course I would listen to her reasoning and at the end it would depend about our relationship and at the time.

If she had been raped and became impregnated at the time I would give her all the support she deserved.

but unlike many other countries here in Thailand it is almost certain that she has a cesarean scar in the largest percentage of mothers, quite hard not to notice if your anywhere near the business end doing your job..

especially most in the sex trade (assuming of course) as that is their lively hood and don't want it diminished by child birth shall we say..

Getting back to the op. I once had a black girlfriend in the uk who had a half caste daughter. (Her ex-husband suddenly announced one day he was gay and was leaving.) We were together for a long while and I accepted the child as my own. She was lovely.

but I would suggest that a child is not realistically her past, it's still very much her present, if she is a caring mother who intends to bring this child into your relationship at some point, hiding such info is more likely to do more harm than good in most relationships as it is going to come out eventually and some bad blood is likely to erupt in most cases.

It is deceptive at minimum but often times can also be considered quite manipulative and a red flag for how she is going to treat your entire relationship and respect you in that context....
