A Conflict of Interest?

I am not too familiar with Buddhism other than it seems to be based on large dose of karma, (making merit) mixed with a lot of peaceful stuff and some pretty impressive temples.
Does the fact that my GF is Buddhist, conflict with her going out with a dumb farang nearly 20 years older than her, or is she just making big merit?

I think she did very bad things last life, so this life she has to endure her bad luck with men with dignity and do lots of tambun and pray that next life she gets me instead of you.

Can anyone enlighten me on the 5 precepts?
As it seems likely i could be missing out on trouser snake action, i might as well do some reading.

I had a brush once (or twice) with a Thai lady despite my being married to another lady. This is well documented and is the reason I joined Teakdoor in the first place.

The Thai lady was well into Buddha and such so I took it upon myself to find out all about it. It turns out that it is not just about burning joss sticks so that you can win the lottery.

I found that I had already broken most (if not all) of the 5 precepts so my soul is permanently fucked (not the proper term). I decided at this stage that Buddism is not for me and decided to continue with Hedonism.

Oh my, I've once breached precept 2 for being able to make a pretty girl completely breach precept 5 because I fancied breaching precept 3 with her. I wouldn't have broken precept 2 mind you, but breaking precept 4 alone wouldn't work

edit: Fortunately she breached precept 1 later so I still don't have any siblings.

Apparently you break Precept 1 by eating meat. So thats me buggered

Precept 2 I broke by copying Spectrum games. Piracy is theft

Precept 3 - sex outside of marriage. Check

Precept 4 - I guess that means lying. Check

Precept 5 - Do not take intoxicants. Check

So i guess that most Thais forget all those and just go for the 'win the lottery by burning joss sticks and sticking gold foil' school of Buddhism

I've always thought that Buddhism was the best of a bad lot (all religions), but, I find it a rather cold and selfish religion.
Buddhists are quite open about the reasons for doing good deeds; it's for the selfish reason that they will move closer to Nirvana. Anything bad that happens to good people can be dismissed as Karma. Any unfairness, or, injustice can be dismissed as Karma. It seems to promote inertia rather than change the world to be a better place.

No worries on that score Jet, she is 34.

The age difference was a bit of a concern at first, but i am such a hansum man i don't think she notices it. At 34 she has been round the block a few times so i'm ok with it, and as to what others might think......... stuff em, a bird in the hand etc....
