Do Leuk Kreung kids have an easier life...

..or do they get the crap kicked out of them everyday?

So, a half chap kiddie growing up in the sticks, he's a lot whiter than all the other kiddies and don't quite look the same, I can imagine that all the mum's would want to hug him and spoil him rotten, but what about the other kids?
Would they want to kick the crap out of him for being different?
Would the older fellas encourage their nippers to give the kiddie a hard time 'cos his daddy's a falang?

    Just a thought.

Your inquiry...comes from personal observation, experience, and exposure?

It's easy, just answer the questions or #### off RS, does it always have to be personal with you?

I have Leuk Krung kids and up until today they have not experienced any negative feedback from the general Thai youth population.

My kids don't look particularly asian and quite possibly would stand out in a crowd here but (fingers crossed) no problems up until today.

If anything (and so it seems) Leuk Krueng kids get a pretty good look in and with regard to Thai Society and especially if they come from a well to do household.
I could be wrong and if so I am sure I will be reminded by a few of the other members here.

Side note LT. My daughters take on more of their Mother's Asian features. With just enough Farang blood to make them noticeable. On the other hand, I know quite a number of Thais that have more of a European look to them than you or I. Sometimes mistaken for Leuk Kreung.

Call it what you want, discrimination is a fact in any society.

They're simple questions and I'm interested in any observations, that's all.

RS is a pedantic, pretentious twat.....

Interested to know how this'll be for mine too. Think they'd definetely get hassle in England, so better off here. Seems to be a reverence to the western fair skinned look here though. All the soap stars look half caste, don't they.

Pretty hard to tell that my kids are half Thai, fair skin, brown hair and *ahem* dashingly handsome. The kids who they play with where the wifes mum lives dont bat an eyelid as they grew up there. Where we live now theres little difference, I suppose if any problems are going to happen it would be from older kids who havent been around mixed race kids.

From another perspective, I've got a luk-kreung livling in Australia. He's five, in his first year of school (Prep) and so far no prolems/advantages to report. Mind you, his class is rather multi-cultural with a Japanese, a Malaysian, a filipino and two Africans amongst the class of 30. There's even a couple of Poms !!

Regardless of the insult he hurled at you; some are, some aren't. Many white skinned Thais have European or Chinese ancestry. In central Bangkok there's a group of upper middle class Northern Indians/Pakistanis/Persians as well, that the general populace take for farang.

The whole idea of 'full blood' is kind of funny since what most people would refer to as 'full blood' Thais are in fact very much mixed in with the Mon and Khmer populations that inhabited this land area before the Thai tribes gradually advanced down from the north. And there's bound to be a few Burman and Malay genes in the pool as well.

Among soap actors and actresses, I think it's fair to say there are a lot more look krueng there than on average in society. Not all of them have European blood though, that is true.

I know a couple of you on here have met my daughter and she can pass for a 100% European no problem, 5 now and back in the Uk for the last 2 months, but started school at about 2 1/2 in Thailand, a Thai private school in Pattaya where probably 75% of the kids were 100% Thai and never a problem.

The only time i could imagine kids having problems is if they don't fit in as in if they don't speak the lingo, but again i had no issues there, the only issue i ever had was that my daughters English wasn't as good as it should have been, but fookin amazing how much it has come on in less than 3 months back in blighty, and no racial issues or anything i'm aware of at the school here either, it's actually fokin amazed me how well she has adjusted and just fitted right in.

I often wonder how a half asian/negro black kid raised by an asian mother and a white pop would get on in the sticks.

Anyone have any experience with this ?

Discrimination can happen other ways, Robski.

Littl'un is pure Thai, but has been picked on by adults and kids for having me as his Mum.

Having said that, he gets a lot of positive feedback from others because he speaks English well.

Actually, it's Mon or Khmer or Lao....Chinese might be ancestrally interchanged with everyone. Depends if you consider the populations from the Southern Chinese provinces 'Chinese'.

I suppose a lot would depend on the type of school the kids went to.
A remote village school where foreigners were considered unique may pose more problems than one of the international schools in Bangkok.
They could get a hard time if they were obviously from a wealthy background, read "more toys", rather than physical appearance.
