There Phuket interview.
Now we have an interview with 2 couples both driving motor-caravans across the world, who camped together at Nai Yang plus MaiKhao beaches in Phuket: Juliet Decaestecker & Jean Francoise Aernouts from Belgium, driving to New Zealand; plus Ann Nuttall & Andrew Pettengell from Australia, driving to UK. We first asked Juliet, a qualified vet, who also volunteered work for Soi Dog charity foundation, why they were driving so far for so long:

The guy didn't take a very straight route. Was he pissed? Did he get lost?

Shocking for spares, continual problems. Hated it. my mate, who owned it, flogged it to a Kraut and got a stretch troopy out of Perth.
-
Good on em though. Trip of a lifetime. I shall follow their progress with interest.
-
Stretch....nothing but trouble from the guys that I know that had them, several in Darwin and Katherine, all in tour biz.
Ocker had problems early on, then became quite good. Very hard to bog down except in mud as usual, but could climb a rock face....excellent 4wd ability. Parts not a problem as it was designed around common truck parts and available around the globe.....don't remember the model now butt.

I like the idea of a pub crawl from bangkok to beijing
a cruiser trayback with a box on the back - good sized engle , swag, 11 ft tinnie on the roof and a 15 hp outboard hanging on the back of the cruiser. extra tank on the cruiser , couple of extra batteries etc.
it might be best to get a LHD cruiser from Laos first and fit it out.

Me neither, but I think Rob (owner) had dropped a chevy engine in it 'cos he got pissed off with whatever he'd had before. Bastard blew up just north of Alice on a 1 month tour out of Cairns. Bit of a panic with 6 guests. I drove the troopy through from Cairns and picked em up to finish the tour in Darwin. I think he flogged the Ocker in DWN. Not sure.
Anyway I had to get the troopy back to Cairns asap for the next tour and rather cleverly blew it up 4 hours north of Townsville.
Happy days.

I say the same thing and I know about boats and 4X4s and motorhomes, which that pickup with a canopy on the back is no motorhome by a damn site.
I posted an OP about motorhomes the other day.

What do you mean ?

my cruiser was my home for a bit - used to camp in the back of it all the time - couple of months working at yabulu , I would have a shower at the servo after work and drive down to saunders beach , park and sleep. It had a motor and was my home = motorhome

Snap. We lived out of ours for a year. I put in a false floor with shelving and storage underneath a bit of a mattress / swag and we slept well. Having said that, most of the time it was outside in a swag.
all changed when we got 2 dogs and I built a cage.
