    Professional Troll and Flaming Artists

Is there any school, evening class for that? I already think of a number of posters with too much time on their hands who will be qualified to teach there And it shouldn't be too difficult to find some forums where to practice.

More seriously, given the number of forum in need of "professional" hosts, there may be a future here.

^Just a bit of fun, really, isn't it?

Unless of course you are pushing some racist or political agenda?

As diaw says, you have the choice of whether to feed them or not.

On the other hand, if you want a lively forum, one way is to hire "professional" posters, and if they are a bit provocative, it usually increases readership ...

    No trolling mate !

I found this definition in Wikipedia :"An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the intention of provoking other users into an emotional response[1] or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.

So I would say a "professional" troll is "someone who posts controversial, inflammatory messages in an online community, with the intention of provoking other users into an emotional responseand to promote special interest (political trolls) or to manipulate traffic (commercial trolls)"

Sorry Perota, but professional trolls have been around for a long time... Since before the Internet actually... Professional dirty-trick operatives hired by big business & political parties to spread dis-information and disrupt their adversaries... Perhaps you've heard of the Plumbers...

As far as TD, I much prefer an open forum that allows their community to exercise free speech in order to express opinions & observations as apposed to a mealy-mouthed, politically correct, overly moderated, bullshite forum such as TV...

One thing the lunatic fringe fails to realize from time to time is that this is ONLY THE INTERNET!!!!!

Well if that's your official and technical definition - than everyone here on TD might be guilty at one time or another. Some more often than others.

Trolling is so commonplace on the net that a lot of people believe it is normal, acceptable behaviour, and that trying to curb trolling is a violation of "freedom of speech" by "fascists" or "communists".
