Might ditch EVA and give them a try on the next trip.

I'm feeling lazy, somebody should put 10 mins into researching the itinerary and complete cost inc. tax etc. from BKK-KL-STN - STN-KL-BKK

Take in flights from BKK, a hotel in KL, no way I'd rely on same day connecting air asia flights.

plus 1,100B for 20KG of baggage and a chicken foccia.

    25K return from BKK.

Easier just to do it properly and do the non-tight ass airlines.

Yep, not to mention Etihad are around that same price (as are many other full fare airlines), you'll get more legroom and comfort generally. Plus a stop off for a leg stretch and a shop in Abu Dhabi.

Thai are having specials until the 31st March, it's about 25,000thb inclusive to LHR round trip.

These budget airlines sound tempting but when you scratch the surface they aren't all they are cracked up to be.

I almost booked on Air Asia from BKK to MEL via KL last week as they were doing specials. I found return flights for a little over 5000thb all up but the stopover in KL and the prospect of 8 hours in a budget configuration ultimately put me off. I would have had to fly after October also, and I don't like to make plans this far in advance.

So, how many stops do their Boeing 737's have to make between KL and London?

I could have saved nearly 300 quid flying via london rather than Newcastle.

I spent sodding ages working things out, realised that there wasn't a chance in hell I would do a 7 hour layover in Jordan, then another 6 hours in Heathrow, at that point to save 200 quid.

    Booked on Emirates.

went to get my e-ticket from my email and less than 3 mintues later my old man sent me an email saying he had just found a BA flight to Newcastle via Heathrow, 300 quid cheaper than my tickets to sodding newcastle.

    Twat.

Don''t reckon that airasiax is that much cheaper and worth the risk of being stuck beside a pikey.

The way our company budgets have been slashed for 2009 I'll probably be taking that myself on my next R&R....

    Brand new ones too.

I'm on the A-AX to the Gold Coast in a couple of months. 14,000THB all in. I'd like to see you naysayers get anywhere near that price with a non-budget airline.

Dont care about the long hauls. By booking wisely I just finished getting BKK/Phuket return for 2400 baht a person return. Cant complain about that. Includes baggage and seat assignment.

Someone should be brave and try it. Send us a report.

Air Asia in flight mag states that the seats on the long haul KL-STN flight are of a new type. They don't recline. Apparently they slide forward and up but the seat back doesn't push back. Might be ok if you're 5 ft tall but I don't think I'll be partaking.

I never recline my seat. I think it makes it more uncomfortable and it's rude for the people behind me.
