Well, I think you're on to something here BigWillyDHDHS - Poolie is Smeg and DJ Pat, but he doesn't know it - ala Fightclub - so he thinks he's going out for beers with Pat, but really he's just that nutter you see sitting in the corner talking to himself.

Smeg is a big fan of Fightclub, hence Poolie and Pat are too, they just don't know that they've ever seen it. It tends to happen in this kind of multiple personality scenario that the male and female aspects of a person are placed into two different personalities, hence Smeg (male) and Pat (female) - notice the androgynous name!!!!
