I was sat with a few teachers last night on Khao San and they all admitted they were only teaching as a means of financing their crumpet habit.

I have yet to meet anyone who actually came to Thailand in order to teach English with no interest in the biff (or botty).

That could well be true. I will grant that, other than in international schools, few if any come here for specific purpose of teaching.

That does not mean they came here solely for biff (or botty).

I know probably 80-100 teachers personally.

Biff (haven't actually spoken to anyone here for botty) is certainly seen as an upside of living here. But I doubt more than 3 or 4 of these would state biff as the sole reason for living here. As many as 90% would cite it as one of the reasons for initially coming here...although for many, that is no longer the case - marriage, family, whatever have replaced/reduced that side of things.

But I doubt more than 30% would leave immediately if the government somehow managed to tighten access to biff (no double entendre intended). Many have wifes and girlfriends that would keep them here...for a time, anyway.

Now...this is a becoming a thread about teacher's...strictly banned here...so you probably have two or three posts left at maximum...
