    Google Earth your home town

This forever faster changing world of ours now lets us zoom in our home towns - wherever that may be, and take a photo .....as long as there a computer with google earth software... Bladdy amazing 'tis..

This is where I grew up on Australia's Gold Coast......though haven't lived there (or Oz) since 1994....

^Care to tell us what you know thetyim??

What about the high resolution areas?

The whole concept of this software has had me baffled ever since I dicovered it, but I am starting to think that much of the hype over it is just advertising for google...

So the question lingers.........can bin laden reaally watch dubya fall off his bike from his cave in pakistan??? ...

I managed to zoom right in on the WTC crater and focus on concrete trucks.

    That's not that old!

I think you will find that these images are from military satelites and are a few years old and the lowest resolution they have.

I've noticed that Pattaya has shit resolution. And a few months back, Thailand said that they'd ask Google to blank out sensitive military areas.

Now, they've whited out a bunch of the ocean right off of Utapao, but all of the military areas on land have pretty good resolution, right down to the planes on the tarmac at the airport.

I think the whole idea is brilliant. It's something you can play with for hours. Go see your old haunts, which you haven't seen in person since before the 'latest' images were shot, anyway.

And as mentioned above, being able to go the WTC site, or the Coluseum in Rome or the Eiffel Tower or the Grand Canyon. It's endless.

The same applies to Samui, I can barely see the roof of my house.
But for our neighbour island Koh Pangan you get such a good resolution that you can count the extasy tablets dropped in the sand during the last fullmoon party..

When I first discovered it I was obsessed with it, but now I cant get it for some reason. I think our security firewall wont let it in.

I live in coastal NSW and the resolution was not good, but I could see my sister's house in Sydney very clearly.

Hate to tell you this Macha but as you see from Google Earth piccys they're from outer space or at least high up in the atmosphere. This is illustrated by the 'overhead' view of the subject matter.

Quetta, on the other hand, is seen from an angle that's definitely not overhead.

The view you see is from the camera in the nose of an Isreali nuclear missile a few seconds before impact!
Sorry, old bean but Quetta is no more!

I scared the shit out of him months ago by googling his apartment and sending the pic to him by email...

just to remind him how easy it is for someone to find him!!

resolution in most part of bkks is very good
