British geniuses feature heavily in a recent list that notes the greatest living thinkers of our time - proportionately more than any other country.
The top 100 living geniuses was compiled by a panel of six experts in creativity and innovation from Creators Synectics, a global consultants firm.
The company emailed 4,000 Britons this summer and asked them to nominate up to 10 living people who they considered geniuses.
Each genius was then awarded scores out of ten against criteria which included: paradigm shifting; popular acclaim; intellectual power; achievement and cultural importance.

Very interesting, but I think you will find that the top 100 living genuii according to the old fashioned method of tabulating IQ might be quite different.

^I wonder if a lot of Americans voted...

5= Nelson Mandela (South African) Politician & Diplomat 23
^I remember when he was known as a terrorist, now he is known as a diplomat? Not a lot diplomatic about putting tyres round peoples necks, covering them in petrol and setting fire to them.

It's an art to figure out the optimum number and type of tyres, volume of petrol, wind direction and velocity and probably loads of other variables.

Only 4,000 people voted. Britons at that! Ask any "Briton" if they're "Britons" and the answer will probably be a hearty fick off. No such country, no such race. Unless the poll was conducted in France.

This was a thing where the public got to vote, right? How else do you end up with a guy like this:

12= Li Hongzhi (Chinese) Spiritual Leader 20

'Spiritual Leader' as a 'genius'? Yeah, right!

Likewise adding 'George Lucas' and 'Muhammad Ali' in there shows how flawed this survey is. No offense to Ali, who is possibly the greatest boxer ever, but not a genius.... and Lucas gave up the 'genius' title when he made Episode I, II, III and exposed what he is capable of when not extensively supported by others that actually know what they are doing.

Wonder which definition of genius they were using...

    1. somebody with outstanding talent: somebody with exceptional ability, especially somebody whose intellectual or creative achievements gain worldwide recognition
    2. outstanding talent: exceptional intellectual or creative ability
    3. somebody with specific skill: a person with great specialized skill
    a genius with computers
    4. or (plural ge·ni·i [jnee ]) quality: a special quality that characterizes a place, period, or people
    5. or (plural ge·ni·i) guardian spirit: in Roman mythology, a guardian spirit of a person, place, or institution
    6. or (plural ge·ni·i) demon: a supposed demon or supernatural being
    7. influence: somebody who or something that exerts a strong influence
    an evil genius

So, really, it's not a list of genius at all - merely a popularity contest. What's the number after their name? The overall score?
