    Sun

The simple things that we Westerners take for granted can be so amazing for those who have never left oppressively hot countries.

I had a chat with a couple of Thai tourists I saw in a downtown Seoul cafe at lunchtime today. They only arrived here this morning, their first time outside Thailand, and discovered for the first time the pleasures of eating lunch whilst sitting in the sun. Its great for me too

I dunno. Winter sunshine is lovely too....

"A surprising feature of the Korean winter is the large amount of sunshine, averaging as much as six to seven hours a day."

no real need - u can hire gear from all the ski slopes at pretty reasonable costs.

i cannot imagine much snow at this time of year however.

Korean weather is absolutely miserable most of the time. cold wet and damp. Most of summer is also pretty muggy.

I have to go to Seoul on business fairly frequently and I have to say it is my least favourite city in Asia.

I too miss a sun that does not burn the shit out of you. I always go back to SF and Lake Tahoe the end of April. To sit out in 58-65 degree temperatures is such a delight, the sun warming you but not making you hot.

Nice thread, good memories, and makes me want to get out of this damn heat.

I doubt that the Thai couple have gotten over the surprise of meeting a Thai speaking Westerner on their first day in Seoul

yes please, we would like to know more

for instance, could you become a Koreaophile? Is it as nice as Thailand, or much better?

does it have an underclass TEFLer group?

When it gets hot in the summer, is it humid?

Yes I may do a PGCE smeg. After hearing about the executive package you were offered in BKK becuase of your PGCE it seems like the sensible thing to do. Getting given BMWs and twice yearly skiing holidays is beyond the wildest dreams of any teacher in the Uk so to be offered those things in BKK is amazing....
