I'm so boooooored of the China+the Olympics

Has anyone else noticed that you can't switch on the TV anymore without being flooded with Chinese-with-everything? Chinese history, chinese cooking, chinese tourism, chinese culture, chinese politics, etc. et-bloody-cetera.

The Olympics hasn't even started and I'm bored to death of it already.

Wouldn't say I'm bored but I'm definately a bit indifferent about it all this time around for some reason. Usually I'd be getting quite excited with all the build-up to the Opening Ceremony; I was quite shocked the other day to note that it's only a few days off and I was none-the-wiser.

Me too Zed, haven't switch the box on since the F1 GP last Sunday and it won't be going back on until all this crap has well finished.

The Olympics that costs the Chinese US$40bn and I for sure can't be that bothered to watch it. Unless they introduce motorsport to the equation. Besides there is a great polluting haze over Beijing. Could be murky to see thru the soup.

I am an optimist. Perhaps there will be a hostage taken or some other dreadful event to make the whole silly thing worth viewing.

Don't forget Bush will open the new US Embassy in Beijing on Friday, maybe an assassination attempt will brighten things up.

Oh, c'mon, most of you will be watching and reporting hourly on how the Chinese have screwed things up - you live for it. The ratings will be sky-high, so the rest of the world will be watching (while you are making your umpteenth posting on TeakDoor).

^ When I was in HK used to watch the Chinese TV. But here I could not do it for some reason. Hence I enjoy the full package that UBCTRUE has to offer. Even though I only watch CNN. And maybe the Olympics as I want to spot your friend momo.

You should see everyone in Carrefour and any major electrical retailer here. Crowds of people watching the lead up to the Games in the shop TVs, bloody weird. I can't be bothered turning on the TV, am flying out tomorrow for the opening ceremony, should be a good show.

Yes, it will be all over Thai TV, just as it will be everywhere else. I think Tammy is playing for Thailand in the tennis matches.

You're right about UBC - it isn't worth it, but I still pay my 24,000 baht every year for the platinum package. Someday a competitor will come along and the rates will go down (or, better yet, we will get a decent cable system here in Laos).

TrueTV must be making a mint with Academy Fantasia - I think they produce it, don't they? And that older man who is the MC must be in on the deal somewhere; he certainly didn't get the job because of his talent.

Yes. Of course focus will be on events Thailand has hope of winning a medal.

There are about 10 events that I will consciously remember and tune into.

Opening ceremony will be spectacular but you would have to be there to really enjoy it.

My greatest interest, and with regard to the whole event is to see how close the overall medals count is and whether China can pinch top spot from the USA. Home town sentiment and umpiring favouritism may see them do it.

Apart from that the stage is set for a disaster of the tallest order.

I hope TV here doesn't focus on only the Chinese competitors as they did with the Athens games, sheesh, boring as heck watching the Olympics featuring Chinese athletes shooting, fencing and diving and not much else.

I will definitely be taking pics though I hear they will search everyone's bags who enters the stadium blah, blah, blah, have my new Cannon D40 and zoom so hope to get some good shots.

I was at the closing ceremony of Sydney 2000 games, that was electrifying and this should be no different, it's about the atmosphere.

I've got to agree, pretty sick of Chinese everything. For the last month, discovery has either been showing shit about China or the Mythbusters...possibly interesting the first time you see it, but after that, the magic is gone.
