Careful on the comments. KW is trigger happy today with the reds. Can't understand why. It normal to have hair all over your body right?

DD certainly did & I thought you were the other one. You certainly took the piss out of my awful pink, slop-around-at-home outfit, though!Originally Posted by kingwilly

Any tips I should try?
Lately I've just been opening it and sprinkling it over some tinned food.
If you got him in a cage, keep him hungry until pill time. Then invite the other cats around by tempting them with food outside the cage. Natural greed should make him guts the food down.
Another alternative is to feed it to him disguised in little balls of minced beef fed by hand. The first couple should be free of medicine.
Last alternative if all else fails is to cut the sleeve out of an old overcoat and shove him up it till only the head shows. It acts like a pussy straight jacket. Prising his jaws open and getting the medicine onto the back of his tongue could be a difficult job and only recommended if you really love the little bugger. I had to do this with one of my Siamese cats years ago but it saved his life.
Good luck. I hope some one has some better alternatives than the last one.
Medicines could always be administered analy if you prefer......the cat I mean
Off-topic, but your comment made me think of it, DrA. I deal with mange virtually every day (your pics aren't clear enough, KW, but I'm not sure it's mange or abscesses - it looks like a simple flea/tick allergy to me from the pics). Went to the RSPCA shelter near my Mum's adopted hometown to get her a dog when I was in UK last autumn. There was this poor wee dog in an end pen with these huge warning signs everywhere that this dog had mange & not to touch it because humans could get it. This poor little mite was being shunned & kids were yelling "eeeuugggh!" at it. It had a minor case & might as well have had leprosy.
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Yes, there is a miniscule chance that humans can catch a mild case of mange from infected animals. I know a lot of people who do what I do, and I've never heard of it actually happening. Meanwhile, in the UK, an animal we wouldn't think twice about touching & treating is treated like it's rabid. Health & safety rulez, OK!
err , what about monkeys ? I believe that was what we were discussing.Originally Posted by November Rain

A bit off topic perhaps but I read in todays Daily mail of a mysterious series of cat deaths. It appears that someone is feeding antifreeze to all his local cats. This has been found to be true by a local vet, he found traces of the fluid in the cats.
They die in agony within a few hours. It appears that they love the sweet taste of the antifreeze.
I'm a visitor to Thailand so i dont know if antifreeze can be bouht here or not....I suppose no frost/no need.
It is a very cruel thing to do.
DD's rotties would be quicker.
Antifreeze is a popular method of killing cats & dogs here. Can't imagine why it (legitimately) gets sold, but it does happen.
Righto, thanks for the feedback, i'll try this tomorrow.Originally Posted by Panda

Maybe KW would benefit from a slight case of mange.
I'll give it to you then...Originally Posted by Jet Gorgon

My monkey bit me the other day....could I get rabies ? how long does it take to get rabies ?
^ Nawty, you should have already had the first jab.
You're dooooomed, I tell you - doooomed!
Miss Rain, I still cannae make him eat the medicine...
If KW gets mange, who are we to complain?
OK, I don't know cats, but I've just phoned a fantastic friend who said:
If it's a pill, put it as far back in the mouth/throat as you can & then blow gently in their face. This triggers a relex action that makes them swallow.
If it's liquid, cut off the tip of the syringe & place it fairly far back. This will make them clamp with their jaws & take it.
Another tip is to lift all 4 paws slightly off the ground while giving meds. As you give the tablet, drop the cat. Reflex action should make them swallow the pill.
Good luck.
