Plastic ID card, village people...
This just keeps getting better and better!
Don they need a search warrant for that, like your just gonna let these fokers come and rifle through your round. I'd stand 'em up straight for much less than that.Originally Posted by rawlins
In the uK a few years back it was mandatory and you couldnt buy an air ticket without it, I guess the habit doesnt die or those who do buy it see it as a way of funding their mongering in ThailandOriginally Posted by Texpat

^^ Don't think a search warrant is needed for a hotel, just a private residence. They would have the hotel's permission to search without a warrant.

hate to rain on your fine rant, but even "real" police buy their own uniforms and guns.
But "Unreal Police" ie farangs don't get guns, have no back up for stuff they do and will probably find that they have an extremely short life span if they start grassing, not a good posistion to be in
To55ers.
I've only ever seen them in Phuket.
You've already got your Thai drivers licence have you not?Originally Posted by AntRobertson

So what, they collect a thousand times more graft than the stupid "bullet catcher" farangs.. remember they are "Volunteers" who don't even get free meals, just score some free farang nookie at times..Originally Posted by The Pattaya Ghost
Guys I know who were real policemen from real police forces speak in most unflattering terms regarding the volunteer/specials that they have had to work with. I've heard "a bunch of fuk't up cnuts playing cops and robbers" on more than one occasion.
Same as the pretend police in the UK, Community Support Officers. Most people rate traffic wardens above them. They walk around with radios and an inflated sense of self importance doing pretty much fok all. Cannon fodder for the chavs.
I remember seeing Howard (from Pattaya Whatever News) strutting around in his uniform in Walking Street earlier this year and only one thought came to mind; 'Fcuking twat'
Steve Kramer used to post on SCT (usernet) and was basically considered to be a bit of a nutcase by most posters. He had an inflated ego and was the self-appointed expert on everything. Most famous quote: "I know where the elephants lie down...."
I guess he was first in line when they were signing up "wannabe farang police".
"You shall respect my authoritai....."

fer krisesakes.... take a handful the next time and fill them out at home. BTW Samut Prakan has a new set up... walk in to a desk, right in the very front for retirees extensions only it looks like, hand in form and passport, stamp stamp your gone in less than three minutes... love it! No more waiting (although never more than 20 minutes) for Somchai's secretary to process 15 work permits or permission to stay for Burmese etc.

Don't ask the question!"
The police know just about every farang that is working illegally, they don't particuly care, well, unless they can get some money out of it I remember when they wanted pictures and passport details of all farang gogo bar managers, didn't realise that I would be the only one to tell them to fok off, I mean what, your going to give the police all your details and proof that you are working illegally, huh.
Another time they showed me a list of all the builders in Pattaya, at the time I thought there was about 40 of us farang builders here, they knew a hell of a lot more than I did and I was in the business.
Wasn't there a farang Pattaya pigs patrol until the pigs got done for beating up people for no reason?
I dunno Peter, you and I were there earlier this month (he was at a wedding).
I'm pretty sure the bar is in his wife's name and he's just the stooge calling the shots till the cops show up -- but a really nice guy. He also plays football (soccer) with the local cops quite frequently.
He'd never tell you he was a volunteer unless you asked -- we rub his nose in it mercilessly. Completely different from the Pattaya posers.
Truth be told, I think the TP is a good idea in theory. But it's rarely practiced as it's pitched.
I guess my anti Thai cop bias shows but a small example of the depths theses scumbags probe.
Steve died last week, the cops impounded his bike so someone tried to get it back, it had gone missing, now luckily the someone took a photo of it the police compound so miraculously it reappeared minus trip computor, bike pump. front light and any other accessories they could get off it. then to take possession they had to slip the Cops a couple of hundred baht for " take care" what a bunch of cvnts these people are, quite happy to steal off a widow and her son.
^^ I agree with you Peter, Thai cops are not my friends either -- and I'm pretty much a boy scout. But I can see how it might help him. I would imagine the trust, however, is a very fine line.
^ They made you take insurance to travel abroad? How about to Scotland?
You can catch heartattacks there so it would be a good idea.Originally Posted by Texpat
