Is Ko Pan Ngan better than KSR?

Well this hanging around game is pretty dull I must admit - first hanging around to get paid and then waiting till tomorrow till I can sort an air ticket home out. Well now it looks as if I'll have to stay in LOS until about the 10th May - another 6 weeks.

So before I go stir crazy in KSR I thought hanging out on the hippy island itself (Ko Pan Ngan) might be an improvement - ie: cheap and with a beach etc...

Think I did a thread about this in the Travellers Tales section some time ago but fuck it , I'll do another one here.

Anyone been there recently and can you easily get dirt cheap rooms etc...?

Not esecially bothered about any of the full moon nonsense but I reckon it must be good to kill 2 or 3 weeks there?

Any views - good or bad most welcome.

Never been to either mate, so can't help you.

I dont really think there will be a "which one is better" as one's an inner city street and the other is a tropical Island......... a bit like comparing popular evening entertainment areas of a large capital city with big lumps of land jutting out of a warm azure sea...or apples and oranges if you prefer.

I have also never been to ko pan Ngan, but i would hazard that it can not possibly be a worse plays to linger than KSR.
Buy a tent, then sell it when you leave.

buy a tent - not sure about that - too fucking hot.

maybe a dirt cheap bamboo hut type thing near the beach - that could be fun , take a bit of ganga along plus a few beers at sunset - must be better than KSR.

I guess you could still try and sell it when you leave.

Do you like sitting on a beach doing nothing?

Personally, I would prefer KSR, because beaches bore me shitless.

Why is it too hot to buy a tent? Most large department stores have air conditioning mabye you could try looking there.

But you can't make sand castle on KSR unless they are made from elephant shite, and then they wouldn't be sand castles they would be elephant shite castles.

Beaches can be dull if they are just touristy places

but if you find a beach that has some long-timers hanging out on, then it can be fun, and interesting

just chatting, swimming and snorlkelling, this and that

    the days fly by

I remember the first time I went to Koh Chang, it was meant to be for three days and I stayed six weeks
    I have reported your post

Overnight VIP bus from BKK + ferry 1000B(?) - Around the 'sunset' side of the island bungalows are about 250B, probably negotiate a deal for a longer period. You're usually a captive audience for food and drink on the 'resorts', so that can be more expensive than usual. You can flag a songtaew down for a trip into Tongsala if you miss the big city lights. I think it's a nice place to go with some good books for a week or so. Just lie back in the hammock and dream about kittens chasing rainbows.

Why do you have to stay here 6 weeks? I know that the airfares are cheaper then, but you'll burn 10 times what you save by staying here rather than getting a job back there.

nothing to do with air-fares - I bought a one way to London for 19K for the second week in May , the same price as it would be for mid april.
