Double pricing, I know. But this?

Let's say that one was at a major temple in P-Lok and needed to use the restroom facitilies. Well this is where you would go. Several years have passed by now from when I first saw this sign. Not much to look at really, but it does show where the bathrooms are at.

But this is where it does get interesting.

Does one use the bathrooms behind the steel bars or venture on down the corridor to the other bathrooms?

Not quite sure I follow. Aren't the signs indicating the same way for both? The one further down says: "Toilet Lady". Seems like it's just thoughtful (albeit incorrect) signage for English speakers?

To save face, the locals have segregated the male facilites so that inquizitive Somchai is not eternally disapointed when he looks down and sees the monster sized trouser python that the foreinger is holding.

The first sign points the way to the bathroom for the 'falangs'. The second sign is for women and the final sign is for men.

Yes, after asking the locals, there is a seperate bathroom for the non-Thai people.

What is weird though is no one ever uses the 'falang' bathroom. The locals say that the tourists just ignore the sign and walk on past.

Maybe HB means the lack on continuity.

The Ladies entrance is immediately in front of the sign.
Immediately in front of the Mens sign is a closed shutter

The first one also says bathroom/shower, but toilet for foreigners. I wonder if they think we shit in the shower?

So are they charging more for the farang toilet?
If not it is not double pricing but apartheid.

You may have solved the mystery, thanks.

Spin, I deem myself to have some humour but that's really not funny anymore.

Do they have proper crappers in the farang ones and those silly squat holes in the Thai ones?

^ That's what I was thinking. Farang style & Thai style toilets. Maybe they think we're more comfortable with the sit down ones?

^ Can't remember how many times I've come across filthy feet marks on the proper sit down ones where some local hasn't known what to do and adopted the old asiatic squat

Some places the floor is under water. It's best to hop up on the rim. It keeps the trousers clean. The toilet in the garage behind Foodland Suk Soi 5 comes to mind. Now, me, I head down to the restaurant inside the Fortuna Hotel.
