Jomtien and violent robberies on the sawngthaews

Now personally I can't imagine anything more pleasing than watching a Thai taxi driver having the shite beaten out of him, and today I got to watch that Now this may seem cruel and hard hearted but every single accident I have had in Thailand apart from one was caused by one of these poxy taxi drivers, yes they find it quite acceptable to cut in front of you and slam on the brakes, stopping in the middle of the road is also quite a normal thing for them to do, they have no consideration for other road users and are basically accidents waiting to happen.

Anyway, there I am sitting at my pc when I hear this shouting out in the street, so I go out on the balconey, I see a taxi dangerously parked in the middle of the road, 2 guys with crash helmets in their hands, the taxi driver was by his drivers door, looked to me that they must have run into the back of him, how little did I know, the 2 guys then started whacking the taxi driver with their crash helmets, I was mentally cheering them on with each blow, then they started kicking him aswell, this was foking brilliant, I rushed in to get my camera, I mean you are talking 4 seconds at tops and I am out there watching again, my camera takes about 5 seconds to power up, they were whacking the taxi driver with a rock, I imagined selling my pictures as a tutorial on how to deal with these poxy scum taxi drivers, thats when the attackers fled.

So what did happen you ask, well it turns out is was a small gang, 3 Thai guys and a Thai girl, 2 were in the taxi and 2 were following on a motorbike each, the 2 in the taxi kept changing seats, this was to try and distract a farang passenger so they could steal his bag, the taxi driver had seen this happen before so he stopped the taxi and asked what the fok they were doing, the 2 bikes pull up about 20 meters away, one of them joins the Thai guy and Thai girl and hands him a crash helmet, and from there on is what I saw.

The only pic I got the bike with the lights on is one and you can see the 2 wearing crash helmets just with their heads popping out from the awning

I agree these drivers can be lowlifes. Sounds like this driver was trying to alert the farang to the scam and took a beating for the good deed. Would be interested in any additional info which comes out.

Pattaya - Feisty wife prevents thieves robbing her husband

Feisty wife prevents thieves robbing her husband

    Theerarak Suthatiwong
Thieves who snatched 40,000 baht from a German on a baht bus found themselves against a formidable opponent when the man’s Thai wife grabbed them and prevented their escape.

Officers from Pattaya Police Station were called out just after midnight on July 6 to the scene of the attempted crime on Second Road, near the Dolphin Roundabout.

The victim, 68-year-old Harry Espis and his wife, Mrs Kannika Polruangthon, 40, together with the baht bus driver were detaining three people who had attempted robbery. They were identified as Suthep Chotang, a 19-year-old transvestite from Banglamung, Ms Chanpen Khanthongdee, 24, from Banglamung, and Mrs Atchara Chansawang, 37.
At the scene also was a gray-black Honda Wave motorcycle that they had used in the attempted robbery.

Kannika and her husband stated that they had gone to a beer bar on Pattaya Soi 10.
They had stopped to withdraw 40,000 baht from an ATM before taking a baht bus back to the Pattaya Garden Hotel in North Pattaya.
Suthep and Chanpen were already in the vehicle.
Kannika said she saw as they tried to sit closer to her husband.
She didn’t move her eyes from them but still they managed to remove the money from her husband’s trouser pocket without him knowing what had happened. Kannika, however, said she realized, and when the two thieves rang the bell to make their escape she blocked their way.

Atchara had been following on a motorcycle so that the two could make a getaway, but the baht bus driver saw what was happening and ran round to the back of the vehicle to help detain the thieves. In the scuffle, the money fell to the ground.

The three thieves protested their innocence, but checking the records back at the station, police found that the three had committed this type of crime several times before. Once again, they were charged.
