    Skype Scam Alert

For those members who use Skype, please be aware that a scam email is being circulated.

The email says your account has been suspended and you need to click on the link included to reactivate your account.

The link takes you to a genuine looking page that requires you to enter your personal details including user name and password. It then goes to the next page which requires you to enter your credit card details.

Similar thing to Ebay. You need to keep an eye on the web address bar to check, a dodgy one will look different than it should. Ebay has a thing where you can send them a suspicious email and they will check it. They actually shut my account down once when they detected suspicious activity on it.

Never click links to sites in emails. If you have a site account/membership like Paypal, Ebay and banks just bookmark the homepage and visit it that way. I never click email links to sites even if I know theyre genuine.
If you want to report Paypal and Ebay phishing emails send them to either spoof[at]ebay.com or spoof[at]paypal.com.

with so many dumb people using the internet, those scams are quite successful and will keep running as long as we let clueless users on the net,

at the end of the day, we should leave the Net to the technical elite,
