CHICAGO (AP) — The Rev. Jesse Jackson says he's "very sorry" for comments he made about Barack Obama during what he thought was a private conversation with a reporter.
Jackson told The Associated Press on Wednesday that he doesn't remember his exact words. He was being interviewed about health care by a Fox News reporter on Sunday when he was asked his opinion about Obama speaking in black churches.
Jackson said the comments were, in his words, "a side light in a broader conversation about urban disparities." Jackson was not aware that his microphone was still on.
He apologized Wednesday "for any harm or hurt that this hot mic private conversation may have caused" and said his support for Obama is "wide, deep and unequivocal."

I applaud Jackson's son for his comments on the matter:

I'm deeply outraged and disappointed in Reverend Jackson's reckless statements about Senator Barack Obama. His divisive and demeaning comments about the presumptive Democratic nominee -- and I believe the next president of the United States -- contradict his inspiring and courageous career.

And I don't quite grasp how Mr. Jackson can say that he wants to cut Obama's nuts off, and then in his apology say:

My support for Senator Obama’s campaign is wide, deep and unequivocal.

So his support is wide, deep, and unequivocal - but he want's to cut his nuts off? That's the kind of support every candidate dreams of.

Not that this little tiff will mean much of anything, it's not like Obama won't get 90+% of the black vote almost no matter what.

Obama is putting the kibosh on Jesse's action. Obama is asking blacks to be more responsible. Jesse has made a good living encouraging dependence while he shakes down corporations for donations to his Rainbow Push Foundation.

What inspiring career?? He made a speech at the Democrat Convention that rocked the house that's it. I have been to many sales conventions were the speakers were awesome made me want to go out and sell the world but I'm not going to vote for them as president.. ^ Local Democrats didn't even expect him to win the Senate seat. Obama was on the ballot just so Democrats could say they ran someone.The incumbent Republican had it sewed up until his Star Trek Voyager hot wife ratted him out in divorce proceedings. The incumbent dropped out of the race. Obama lucked out bigtime.
