    Dumluat, Thanks so much.

My wife's sister dissappeared 4 days ago and totally out of the blue.

We, my wife and I had brought her down from the village when she was 11 years old and to live with us. Since she has been with us she has never been a problem, helping out around the house, good school results and always appeared happy. Recently turned 16 and we had given her a little bit more freedom (and to go out with her friends) but she had to be home by 10 in the evening.

4 days ago she didn't come home. My wife and her parents were distraught and immediately went to the police.

To cut a very long story short the police have found her (in Southern Bangkok) with a 29 year old Thai man and have brought her home today. They (the police) have asked if we wish to press charges against this man and my wife and her mother are considering doing so.

The reason for this thread is I have always been somewhat anti the police here and in this instance they have been absolutely caring, helpful and gone out of their way to help us.

They throughout their investigation have used their own personal resources to find my wifes sister and have even worked after hours.

No request for under table money and exhibited real concern at all times.

A few fruit baskets (with bottles of black label whiskey) handed out in the next few days.

T.D allows me to share my story with you all and a story which contradicts the general public's opinion of the police here in LOS.

I still hate them, due to my experiences with them, too. However, I'm extremely happy that things worked out so well for your family Loy Toy & maybe there are a few good ones. Seems yours were.

As the story is panning out now, this Thai cnut also has some 14 year old girl on the line as well and has a history of sweeping young girls of their feet just to steal their virginity. (As per the police explanation)

They, the police are also pushing my wife and her mother to lay charges because, and to my surprise what he has done is illegal (sex with a girl under 18).

I never knew about the laws but I am not sure I want my wife tied up in this sort of thing. We have enough on our plate regarding her sister and trying to get her mind right.

Poor girl. I understand your feelings, Loy Toy, but he'll continue doing this if not punished. May continue doing it anyway. What an awful experience.

Feel free to tell me to mind my own business Loy Toy but I'm curious as to how your sister-in-law became involved with a man in Southern BKK in the first place.

Not another cautionary tale of internet chatrooms or something is it?

I saw a middle aged cop in uniform in secluded booth at Black canyon yesterday with a girl in school uniform aged about 14/15, I made the comment to my wife, not very appropriate, wife jumps to defense, "maybe its his daughter," "Yea! well have a look at where his hand is and then tell me its his daughter"

There's no saying he would be imprisoned. Might get a fine, might buy his way out under the table. Even if he did get imprisoned, it's possible, sadly that he'd go back to his old ways after release.

But punishment might just make him think twice, next time.

Actually Ant we now know this relationship has been going on for some time.
My wife had actually seen the guy walking out of our house about 2 months ago.
She ran to me, as I was working on another house on the estate and told me a thief had just left our house. We jumped in our car and chased the bloke for about 5 kms but as he was on a bike he escaped. Went back to the house and asked the sister and she said she knew nothing about him and not seen anyone in the house.

When we went through her belongings, and after she went missing we found some pictures of him in her bag which my wife recognised as the man who left our house.

She disappearad from Pattaya and was found in Samut Prakarn.

How she met him still remains a mystery but possibly your reference to the internet may be the answer. Thanks.

this is tom sawyer/huck finn, thai style.

i would let the girl/"victim" and your wife decide.

a cash payment would be the cleanest and easiest.

my personal bias is to avoid a long drawn out legal procedure unless this is what the girl wants.

    good luck staying uninvolved. difficult.

Get her on the pill and show her some graphic photo's of diseased snatches - accept the fact she is going to shag , if she wants to be "all grown up " at least make sure she is educated about it.

and educate her about this other bloke , explain to her what the coppers have told you about him - and importantly , do not get fired up about it all.

find out what she thought was going to happen with her new lothario - get married and ride off into the sunset in a 2 door sporty merc ?
maybe curtail her ingestion of thai soap operas - is your missus an avid fan ?
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

There's a fine line here. On one hand, there are many girls who look for guys like this and want to be swept off their feet by an older guy.

I know cos I was getting a lot of messages from them when I was on a popular website a long time ago.

You can usually tell which ones are worth meeting up with. but a couple of them I met, I didn't wanna "corrupt" cos I do have a degree of decency.

Mate they all get involved in this fantasy world of soap operas here.
Personally I have never even attempted to watch the ones back home. My own world is a big enough soap opera as it is.
Sons and daughters, Neighbours and the like influence people and I believe transforming them into this false fantasy world that my sister in-law quite possibly expected to find.

I might take her down to soi 6 and show all the youngens with stretch marks that have been dumped by their Thai boyfriends.

    Thanks for advice.

because he is neither the victim or a blood relative of the victim.

and little things like it isnt him who will either press charges, testify, experience the social stigma involved or experience a wit of trauma if there is/was any.

empower the victim if she is one. if she isnt exact a consequence from the guy or simply move on.

let the kid and her sister decide. this aint kansas.

Mate this a situation that has to be handled by her blood relatives (court action).

The big problem is that her real mum and dad are here now and they are not only screaming for the blokes blood but are going to give their daughter one hell of a bollocking. PROBABLY MAKE HER WANT TO RUN AGAIN.

The only way I want to get involved is to try and reason with them and that one mistake doesn't mean the end of the world. "She's home safe" and that is the main kind of arguement I will put forward.

I have spoken to my wife and suggested the best way to handle this is to talk civilly with her and try to support her. She's only just turned 16 For F --Sake.

As far as me being a farang this fact has nothing to do with the end result and whichever way the Thais decide.

Again, the police were great and we are indebted to them.

I don't think it may be just a slap on the wrist (fine). It may be possible for him to buy himself out of this but that would not be a small amount. I have judges in a criminal case are a bit more expensive than if you get stopped on the road by a policemen for a minor traffic offense.

We are not sure whether she has been sexually abused as yet and our problem is she may have left of her own accord so quite possibly no criminal act has been committed. I think the police know something and that is the reason they want us to nail him.
I would not like to be in his shoes as there is a 14 year old involved as well.

Still deciding whether to take her down to the hospital for a check up as she is giving her my and dad the Thai silent treatment at the moment. Loss of face for her and best leave her think about it for a while.

A trip to the hosi, or a doctor is a very good idea. If not just for STDs.

Mate I know exactly what you mean but I am not her father. I truly care about her as we have brought her up over the last 5 years but what can I do.

My wife has just told me that her sister's school has just called and have decided her to remove her as a student (expelled). They claim her actions would bring calamity into the student ranks and it would be better if she found another school. Funny though she had impressive academic and behaviour reports and before this happened.

What a fcuked up situation and she truly seemed so happy before all of this happened.

Both this & what Balders suggest might seem harsh, but if she thinks she's an adult, might be the best thing to open her eyes to the consequences adults have to deal with.
