Can you speak like without saying like every other word like?

I confessed in another thread that I have been watching Big Brother 9. The missus enjoys it for the Thai person (fuck knows why) and I am required to make sure that she has fully understood why they are arguing ( this does mean that she has to discuss members of the house late at night and her feelings about them)

One of the knobbers in the house is a young chiseled bodied adonis called Luke (I think). Correction it's Dale

Luke can't speak properly at all and it drives me mad.

    For example.

"You know like ummm why I like you know like ummm, need to like talk to you like, uuuuhhhh like it's not easy like, like living in this house like, it's uuuuuhhh stressfull like uhhhhh you know like, all these people like always around you like, uhhhhh."

Listening to him is like having nails dragged down the blackboard like.

It's absolutely appaling that somebody his age can't string a sentence together.

What the fuck has happened to people? Like?

Education and discipline has all but vanished in the UK.

The brave and respected WWII generation gave birth to the baby boomers who in turn have spawned this and further generations of British underclass who expect to everything on a platter and an easy life from the moment they can wipe their arses.

You can also point fingers at bad parenting, increasing drug and alcohol abuse and poor role models.
Mortals you defy the Gods, I sentence you to travel among unknown stars, until you find the Kingdom of Hades, your bodies will stay as lifeless as stone.

All well and good but why on earth has the word "like" become interjected into the underclasses vocabulary?

I don't know, MrsQ, but it seems to be fashionable or desirable to sound as thick as two short planks. When last back in UK, I happened to catch that beacon of culture known as the Jeremy Kyle show. In the couple of shows I watched, I was gobsmacked to see white as snow youths talking in what I guess was a West Indian Yardie style patois. I nearly wet myself watching them. And they were taking themselves so seriously, whilst looking (to me, anyway) so stupid.

If you can get to view a show, do. It's appalling. The British Jerry Springer or worse. The dregs of UK society getting their 15 mins.

Far worse. Trust me, you'll either watch it with your mouth open or piss yourself laughing.

This is available for download now - it was on last night

Slight tangent - remembered I wanted to watch it.

    Panorama - Young Gunmen.

Last year, the murder of innocent Liverpool schoolboy Rhys Jones shocked the country. Panorama investigates the rise of armed teenage street gangs and discovers how shockingly ingrained the culture of guns and violence is in parts of Britain. Though small in number, Panorama sees how teenage gangs and their turf wars devastate whole communities, and meets parents of teenagers who are being dragged into gang culture.

The film speaks to old-school gangsters, shocked by the new levels of casual violence, including one who is trying to turn youngsters away from guns. It follows the latest police efforts to stem the gun culture, going out on patrol with Merseyside Police's elite anti-gun and gangs unit, the Matrix Squad.

Link please. Watched a trailer on the Beeb website, looked interesting.
I think the "like" came from America where it was cool to be or sound like an airhead.

Yeah, I think "like" is an American thing. I think.

"And she's like" = and she said.

And "like" is a filler/dummy word.

    I don't like it when it's overused.
