    Another trivial repo thread/poll

Sorry for the purists that hate this sort of trivia, but this is something that interests me.

How do you choose who to green or red? For me, it's down to posts. However, my views or sense of humour tend to favour some posters more frequently than others. But I notice that, if I green (or red) someone, I often get a reciprocal green or red within 24 hrs - sometimes for posts that are pretty bland (not worthy of greening or redding).

So, what is your repo policy?

No real system, but red the OP of lame threads as a matter of course.

Repo policy - I rarely do reds. Maybe less than 5 since I have been here. Maybe 10. I can't remember. i just really hesitate to green someone for their opinion. I would rather debate it publicly.

Sometimes I green with no comment for a good post.

A great post gets a comment.

Once in awhile, I send you a green just because sis.

^^ If everyone followed that ruling, you'd have negative repo.

On the posts, but it's more often than not the usual lot who get greens and the usual fuckwits like Momo & Macha who get the reds when I can be bothered.

I sent Blackgang a green today for being a soft old git.

I believe the whole system adversely affects forums. Many forums have gone to a system where you can only award greens or they have disabled the system completely.

Agree they can be somewhat a preoccupation but on TD I really don't think many take them to serious.

I always give a welcome green to a newbie. Give greens to good or humorous posts. I have given one red since I've been here and that was because the member asked for one.

    Choose other. Greens only.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.

He just sliced 10 posts off my total in the games room by merging a whole bunch of acronyms I had posted. And he's bumping his own threads?

    Nice....

It's too easy for new members to be driven off forums because of the quick accumulation of reds. Sure, some of them are probably warranted but there are always a few veterans who get enjoyment out of deciding someone's fate early on.

Disable the reds and the number of posters would increase. Guaranteed.

I would just as soon see it all gone. If someone likes or dislikes a post why not post an appropriate reply?

The red marks start out as fun but...

I think that's ERCO on the bottom right.

Never felt the need to red anyone as yet. How can you make this decision and to red someone because of his/ her point of view. Received a number of reds and at the end of the day probably deserved them.

If somebody considers I am a cnut or troll (or whatever) I consider their post and on a few occasions I have had to agree with their verdict.

If someone slandered my family I would red them and they could then expect a vist from me in person and to discuss their point of view.

here it is set up so it is really difficult to get someone into 2 reds, they got to be a real dick to get 2 reds lit up, I think erco managed it at one time, obviously he was jailed for life.

I assume you are refering to ldmas forum, well he is a cock and just copies us anyway, so I assume he will set his repo up the same as us in the near future

I am thinking of redding you for that avatar

You can switch back to the old one anytime.

I wouldn't say that's been the case on this forum at all. And I think for the vets that hand out the reds, then there are the vets that hand out the greens. The system seems to work well.
