    Life without the internet....

What would you do to fill the void if you were without a connection ?

I have just spent the last two weeks with no internet after AOL turned shite and decided to go balls up. At the very same time I got a new job. I work 10 hours a day, six days a week and therefore only have a few hours each night to myself which I go online. I have not watched television in about 7 years for obvious reasons (it's crap) and do not feel like reading after a 10 hours of manual labour.

I suddenly realized that I rely on the internet for most of my entertainment. Whether it be music, movies, forums, chat, email, news or whatever it was a weird & frustrating feeling being 'disconnected' for the first time in many years.

    Sad, but true

Been there more times than I would like in the last couple of years. As Chitown once observed, I don't have a lot of luck with computers.

I read & watch TV (as in the box) a lot more. The real problem is work emails & our website, although I do miss forums when I'm offline - they're my contact with adult, English speaking humans.

I went from May 06 to July 07 with no home Internet. Checked e-mail once a week. Read newspapers.

    I was much happier then.

My presence here is merely to level the field.
In my absence, imagine all the sour-grape rhetoric running rampant.
You'd all be drunk with self-love.

The US government pays me to moderate the vitriol. I'm paid by the post.

You'll be seeing the (real) backside of me come Christmas.

    I'd be quite qutie lost.

Having said that every now and then, (well, ok, once or twice) I've deliberatly had a day of no technology - no phone, no TV, no computer, no internet etc.

Newspapers, books, out in the sunshine.... and strangely enough, I really enjoy it.

Ahh, the good old days when Ameri-bashing went unanswered and the pusy-libs sat around jerking themsleves into a joyous, harmonious, climactic crescendo.

Ahhh, those were the days. (350 baht for that post.) Cheers NickA. This one's on you!

Thinking about it, I'd prolly get out more and maybe actually have sex with a real, live woman. Hmmm....

All my friends are internet people. I'd go back to being an only child, talking to my flour and water bears.

Yep, I meant you lot. You included, Happyman.

    Adults, as opposed to littl'un.
    Humans as opposed to dogs.
English-speaking as opposed to me trying to wrack my poor little brain for the Thai words I actually know that might be suitable for the conversation I'm attempting to have.
I'd be on my way to the loony bin if I didn't have you lot to 'talk' to.
