    Prices and stocking up?

Prices are out of control lately and the news just seems more negative all the time for harvests from what I can see. I would guess food prices are going to continue going up. Who knows how much of an increase there will be though. Is there anything that you would consider stocking up on if that item were to see a large price increase in the next year? What items do you expect to go up?

A lot of the things won't last too long if you save them. Whenever I get a bag of rice before long it's loaded with those rice bugs. I wonder why beer prices never seem to go up. They must have to import some stuff for that. Maybe that rise is coming. If they are starting to charge people who fly for each bag they check in, all those things coming from abroad will have to show that fuel cost.

If prices get higher I would think people might try to grow more on the land they have. I'd say most farmers here don't use the land the have to the maximum. Their rice fields are maxed but then there is land around their homes and other places which could be used for saleable crops.

I've noticed that Olive oil price at tops hasn't reallyt moved. The prices of other oils have changed but not doubled. I would have thought oils would move more.

Prices for heavy products like liquids, nuts, grains, and fruit should go up as the fuel costs for transport are so high.

Are containers typically one price no matter what you put in them or are their shipping costs based on weight? Or is it both weight and a charge for the container? Just curious about that.

I have always stockpiled Heinz baked beans. I like eating them a couple of times a week, they are a perfect hangover cure on toast with a mug of stron tea (also stockpiled) and a hedge against whatever craziness the Thais can visit upon themselves with coups, death of certain people etc., etc.

One point of concern would be those living downwind if I was forced into surviving on them for any extended period.
