    infestation

    Hi everyone,

I think it's jsut that time of year but its a pain all the same....My home apartments are being attacked by cockroaches, the small baby ones mostly...The apartment complex is 4 apartments on 2 floors just above ground level. 4 units in total.

Not only are they attacking left out food in a matter of minutes, but the last straw is that they are homing in (excuse the pun) on the bathroom towels. The towels are in the same place year round, & I've had this happen once b4 a few months ago....now its starting to happen again!! The buggers are congrugating on my towels en mass!!

Does anyone have the same experiences in the last few weeks....my guess is that its the weather or reproduction cycles or soemthing like that...but does anyone have any ideas how to tame or get rid of them?

Regular feeding, trips out to the park, injections at the vet's, and plenty of love and attention should do the trick.

Fumigation is not an option unless I evacuate the wife and kid to a hotel overnight. I have tried spraying under the doors, shower drain and in the holes in the sink but I think they are developing immunity to Baygone!

    sounds like the best option.

it's only a night and fumigation works long term.

Ditto. Also, have the apartments base boards sprayed every couple of months. Not expensive and keeps all the critters pretty much under control.

Afraid it is. Once the apartment is infested, they will continue to breed year around. Better get rid of them now! You should look into buying something more powerful than Bygone. Commercial insecticides are available and you use a hand pumped tank to spray.

Apartments are more difficult than houses but this is how I got rid of mine.

    Cockroaches need water.
Make sure you never leave water in the sinks, bathroom and kitchen.
    Wipe them dry every night.
Put the plug back in the sinkholes after use
Check there is a tight lid on all other water.
Cover the shower drain after use.

Sprinkle cockroach powder where they run or live.
I think it is called Borax.

Should have cautioned if the "kid" is a toddler keep him/her away for a couple of hours from areas you spray.

Bath towels may be damp too.

Pour some bleach/vinegar down your shower drain and any other drains that are in the house once in a while. One bad thing about this is if your neighbors don't make an effort their roaches might come over to your house. (It could be that your neighbor has dropped dead and has given a huge supply of food for the roaches.)

You could also buy about 15 Iguanas or other lizards and let them go wild for a few days. They'll take over during the night and kick some ass I would bet. The only problem would be catching them and cleaning up their poop after they leave.
