    Did you ever fly Concorde?

I miss Concorde, and no - I never flew anywhere in one.

    Looks nice though doesn't it.

^ Yeah... No offence mate but 'Jizzybloke' and 'Concorde' just don't fit in the same sentence.

Once. London-NY. Fast, but cramped. Virgin biz class was way better. I do miss the corporate days.

I got to fly cross continent in a Russian Mig-25 Interceptor. That beats the hell out of a Concorde.

When I had the travel agency is SF I got to view it. Inside and out. Then I won a lottery and got to take a one hour sub sonic flight around california. Fun it was.

I flew concorde a handful of times.
NY to London it could save time if then flying out East.
First class on a 747 a far nicer flight in my opinion.
    Very cramped.
I would not have liked to have flown it if completely full or ast next to one of the nouveau obese.
It seemed that on the BA version everyone wanted to fly in the front cabin while neglecting the second cabin. It didn't make much sense to me. I prefer having the room.
Remember it was built in the 60's before . todays first class suites would be a far better travelling experience.
The NY- London route is quite short so the time saving particularly on the London-NY leg had its niche.
Lunch meetings in Manhattan and home for hot milk before bed .
Never me I hasten to add

Impeccable safety record for years, then one bursts a tyre and they scrap the bunch and never make a new one.

    Sad.

Well I got taken up in a fighter jet over Ghana personally by the president, Jerry Rawlins, himself. This was when he was still president.

Back when I was more stupid than I am now.

My ex had a Suzuki SJ413. My mate Leo and I hung on the outisde of it whilst she raced up country roads in the ice and snow. She was fucking booting it. Our jeans kept brushing the back wheel. both of us on either side.

Great fun at the time but a bit stupid thinking aboout it now. One slip and we were under the wheels.

I always wanted to fly on that beauty.

My close encounter with a Concorde happened at Dulles airport. I was a student pilot in a Cessna 150 taxing for take off behind the Concorde. I remember the smooth confident sound of the pilots voice on the radio.(he sounded like he was from Tennessee) I could feel the ground shake when they took off, even above the shake and vibration of the idling Cessna,
    Magnificent airplanes.

My lovely bil, ex navy tech on Hercs, told me about a Russian pilot who flew his MIG to an airshow in Canada. The guy asked for potatoes and vodka to take back. The crews complied and filled his tanks for free to get him to Labrador, where another crew refueled him again. 555

^Yeah, those are true stories. I mean, you see this magnificent piece of technological marvel in front of you and the pilot is taking potatoes to his mother-in-law....Classic.

They never made a new one for years before that. It was scrapped because Airbus said that making parts for it was not economically viable any more.

The thing was built for speed not luxury. It cut the travel time by more than 50%. So business people were the main people flying.

3 and 1/2 hours vs 7+ is a big difference. And flying west you arrived before you departed.

Concorde wasn't the fastest commercial airliner ever though. This was.

    The Soviet built Tupolev Tu-144.
