What is the "key" to making a great thread?
Advice and inspiration would be appreciated.

About the same way the movies work. Sex and violence subjects seem to work well. Slagging off Thailand is a sure winner. Oh and the blockbusters are always ones that criticize merika!Originally Posted by Roc
Start up a slagging match. Not a bad enough one to get moved to MKP, but enough to get people a bit passionate...
Yep, you need it.Originally Posted by Roc

But to answer you're question you first need to decide what a great thread is. It could be a wonderful travel or building thread with pictures and the chance to learn through others' real life experiences, or it could be CMN muttering on about teenage TV shows.
a good blow by blow account of a disastrous relationship is always popular.
eg Scampy and Sandra, NickA and a block of wood etc
I tried my best with a Cornish Pasty thread but it just didn't capture the imagination of TD members
I am taking about a beard by the way
Stiffy the Ponk.
How do you define a good thread? Quantity before quality?
one that manages to stay on topic for the first 10 posts
^ You didn't answer his question.
i was answering Gallowspole's question
i just unwrapped an interesting gold wrapped sweety , popped it in my mouth and realised it was a Knorr stock cube after I bit into it. Then i spat it out again in disgust. There will be interrogations tomorrow to find out who sabotaged the sweet bowl in the fridge.
i thought you may find this faintly amusing but decided it didn't deserve its own thread. Excuse me for a minute while I brush my teeth.

Smear a TV or Ajarn mod, that seems to work well.
The Title is important, even with crap content it will pull off - have a look at CMN's drivel.
Nice picture threads attract greens, but not many responses.
hmmm, quite.Originally Posted by stroller

I like the fact that my linux thread is well into it's second century and i didn't even open it.
way to go mods, great split.
A great thread would be one where I couldn't possibly add any of my usual dribble
