Does anyone know of the company mobicool ? I want to get a fridge for the car for when i go out on the piss.

Ace hardware offered me a 3 day warranty... that's right, 3 days! which leaves me feeling suspicious...

anyone had any problems?

perfect for a night on the piss when one is driving between venues or stuck in traffic...

no. the one in the shop had the stuff very cold. th sales girl said it would make a warm drink cold in 20 mins....

Bullshit, they barely work, will only lower the inside of the box xxx degrees below ambient temp, and if you aint damn careful your battery will be dead most of the time and you wont be able to start your car.

Better off with a styrofoam box or a portable camp cooler and buy a chunk of ice once in awhile, cheaper and safer and better.

My brother did try one of them when we were prospecting on Baja Calif. and it wasn't really worth a damn, we did a lot better with a real good ice chest and buy the largest chunks of ice we could get in em and not open the coolers more than we had to and they did us a better job.

There's two kinds of portable fridges. One runs on bimetallic strips and is real cheap with no moving parts, but sucks heaps of power. Good for long trips while your engine is running. The other type is like a conventional fridge with a motor and compressor. More efficient but being so small takes several hours to chill down a hot beer and "probably" wont flatten your battery if left running overnight. Unless you plan on being out in the wilderness for several days at a time and will be using a portable generator for power, an esky (Styrofoam cooler box) and some ice would be a much better choice IMHO.

We just use an Esky (icebox) that we keep cool with these clever little gizmo's we got in Oz- they're some gelatinous substance encased in a strong plastic that you freeze, and they take ages to melt back to a jelly. The problem with ice is that as it melts, it wets everything in the esky.

Can't seem to find them here (business opportunity?), but we're having a few more brought over from Oz soon. When I go shopping, which I hate, I like to add on a meal in town or something like that. A few of those gooey gizmo's placed on top of the produce keeps things cool enough until we get back home.

They got em here Sabang, I got some fresh fish from Bali, Ahi tuna loin and some Mahi Mahi and they had some of them with blue shit inside and some that were [looked like] water inside and a sealed plastic that kept it from melting all over everything, the wife put them in my freezer to keep them incase we wanted to take a cooler with us sometime.

But be lucky to get anything like that in Thailand really cause they ain't figured out what a fridge is for yet.
