What to do if they nick your Mobile Phone....

Go to D-tac or one two call shop and they will stop the use of your Sim card and give you your number back. This is well known.

But did you know they can disable the phone?

You must give them the phones serial number though.

So make a note of it right now!

You can get your serial number up on the screen if you put in -

Star-pound-0-6-pound I am told. Don't know how you punch in pound?

    Anyone know?

*#06# , but may be different for another make.
What you get is the IMEI number, a special serial number used when your phone is communicating with a base station.
It is not contained in the SIM, but in the phone itself, so replacing the SIM will not help you if the IMEI is in the operators black list.
But changing the IMEI is a service many phone shops in Thailand can do for the small cost of 100-200 Baht.

As I said in a previous post. Ladyboys in the South Pattaya (crowded) Market.
They nicked my mobile which was clipped onto my belt. Didn't realise it was gone until later! Thieving Baskets!!!!
