Going home for awhile anyone?

I am set up to do a one year post grad course in the UK starting September 09. I don't really want to leave Asia even for just a year or two but going back makes sense career wise. I'm a bit scared to go back. By then it will be 7 years in Thailand. Big women and a big culture shock. Anyone else experienced along stint in the UK after along time away

a year is really not very long.

lots of my friends have gone back to the uk for a year to study.
they get back and nothing has changed.

thailand is still here.

personally i'm not going anywhere.

can't afford the flight.

On my brothers course they had some 50 year olds training. And despite what the negative nellies say lots of previous teaching experience teaching in Thailand is looked upon as an asset. It's never too late man.

Flew round and round the World for years as a documentary Film Director.
Was on 21 'planes in 30days once and it never bothered me.
But now I cannot stand the 12 hours to Heathrow. Get claustrophobic!

^ DD even a teacher without degree earns more than that in LOS. What sort of people you are talking about?

^Huh? There is a group in Pattaya whose salary is around the 30k baht per month mark, in the last 8 months they have worked less than 4 months, trouble is they don't get paid when they don't work, so now their average monthly is more like 12k baht per month.

Earn 35k a month but they only work 7 months of the year.

I live on 60 a month although I don't spend half of it.

Yeah but these kind of folks would do anything and stay in Thailand under any conditions, desperate men these group fall into. Bet they aren't even qualified and get pissed every night and turn up for work stinking of beer, or worse, whisky.

Not been in your situation Md but come back here for the summer every year,i dread the thought of coming back, but once here it's ok.
At the moment i'm house/dog sitting in a small village. yesterday when i took the dog for a walk i actually really enjoyed being here it was a beautiful day spring is springing and all felt good.
I think a mind set here is important, you will be here for a reason and then you will go back (home)

I'm taking on small jobs one or two month at the time, cant be gone from the farm for long, but the extra money is kind of nice through...
