Has Texpat become angry since moving to LOS?

Texpat used to be a fairly benign poster who had a few interesting things to say but generally flew under the radar.

Since moving to Thailand it would appear that he is very angry all the time.

What has Thailand done to him?

Is it the boredom? The people? The newness of it all?

A big group hug is in order for our angry American companion.

Note to mods - need a group hug smiley.

Just decided to call the dumb man's bluff.
No more free rides on the Americoaster.

Nothing more than any other poster would do to set the record straight.
If I said Guinness was a good Welsh Ale, posters weould be all over it.
If someone claims Cheney is a mere govt employee, I'm all over it.

    get used to it.

    Sensitive? meh.
tell me bush is an idiot, I'll agree.
Tell me the Pacific Fleet could airdrop supplies to Burma tomorrow, I'll disagree.

    Same as it ever was.

^^ Yes, he does, doesn't he? Sounding more like Jet & BG everyday. Oh, wait, Jet's not American, is she?

Carry on having a go at people who are Merkin bashing Tex, but stop being so sensitive about things you merely perceive to be Merkin bashing.

Ain't leaving, so get used to the crap being challenged.
All the petty snipes -- The bullshit you think is normal.
Many here claim Americans are sensitive.
It only seems to come to a head if they're pro-American.
Ray Carey and MilkMan, for example co-exist with no problem.
Is the alternative point of view not welcome?

Am I only OK and "normal" if I think the US is fucked and stupid and should listen to superior intellect?

Not yet. We are trying to find her a nice American man to marry. Hopefully the spousal VISA, green card and eventual citizenship will not be hindered.

She is a wonderful, patriotic, flag waving American woman......well Canadian, but soon to be American.

I'm no more respectful / dispespectful than anyone else.

Seems if I disagree, though, I'm angry. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Just have conviction about my stances. Understand how that might be a foreign concept to some here...

BTW moved to LOS two years ago.

he seems to suffer from culture shock, local frustrations leading to a bigger picture frustration

it takes about 1 year to clear, been there, done that

of course being an American redneck and drinking probably every night to oblivion doesn't help

Definitely the most cantankerous old codgers on the board are Americans, Texpat, FF, Blackgang and so on.

Not American bashing, just an observation.

I have to agree. I would be terrified to meet any of these people in person. And, what about Boon Mee? He'd probably whip out his second-amendment-protected handgun and shoot me for being a self-loathing liberal.

ok don't tell anyone, but I think Boon Mee has become a reformed liberal, so it's all an act at the end

Sorry to have to break the news to you, but Canada is actually part of America, so is Hawaii, Equador, The Dominican Repulic, the Galapagos Islands and the Amazon jungle.

The Maya and the Inca empires were Americans, as are todays Inuit, the Yamomani, Minnesota farmers and Chilean fishermen.

Some of you Yanks need to open your eyes, find a map and get a passport - there is more to this world than the US of A. Hell, there is even a lot more to America than the US.
Any error in tact, fact or spelling is purely due to transmissional errors...

When my ex-wife got her US Passport (she was collectively naturalized as a citizen of the Northern Mariana Islands) I said, "Congratulations, you're an American now."

She replied, "I may be a US citizen, but I'll never be an American."

    How right she was....

Well, only two US firms would hire my sorry a*, so I reckon I should qualify as a Merikan. Gotta wait for the elections to get my green card, coz if the Dems get in, my taxes will skyrocket. Bad enough in socialist Canada, but I give to charities so I can pick where my $ goes.

    Not nice.

All the lovely Americans on our board are patriotic conservatives (except Ray Carey and north of the 49ther, Hootad). Lovely folks who work for a living, pay their taxes and donate to causes as they see worthy, unlike the socialists in our midst who want us to work so they can grab our tax dollars to fund their welfare cheques.

Well said. Why is everyone so eager to piss on our country? It seems like every poster on here (who isn't American) has a hard on for the USA. Yes, I think Bush is an idiot. But when he's finally out of office next year, will it change peoples' perceptions of us? Probably not. It'll be "What the fuck were you guys thinking electing a black president?" Why don't people from England or Australia get the same treatment? I don't really care either way, go ahead and insult us like you always do. I'll try not to say anything - wouldn't want people to think I'm being "too sensitive".

If they're lovely people then whey do the express such anger and hatred for people who disagree with them? Why do they do such name calling and ridiculing?

If they are patriots then why have they been so quick to dump our hard won freedom and liberty for the illusion of safety?

But, enough of this. I stay away from Issues for good reasons....

Most of the world was reasonably happy with Clinton in office, so I don't see why not. Also, Europeans don't get hung up about black or female leaders, so that shouldn't be an issue.
