    "Hey! Take off that tie!"

I've pretty much worn a tie ever since I started high school, so it is getting up near 30 years now. I've pretty much got used it. I don't even think about it.

I don't much give a shit if someone chooses to wear a tie or chooses not to wear a tie. Up to you.

But I can't count the number of times some dick has said something like "Hey! Take off that tie!" the second they feel a tie is no longer essential.

    What is it with that?

Is whipping the tie off some kind of middle-class, white collar gesture of rebelious defiance?

"Hey, John Howard sucks! But no, I'm not going write a letter to the newspaper or my local MP...I'm not going to slap stickers all over the back of my car...I'm not going write a letter to the newspaper or my local MP...I'm not going to join the Labour Party...I'm not going march in the streets...I'm not even going on a hunger strike. This is much more serious. I'm taking off my tie!"

    Tossers....

I have worn a tie 3 times in my life.

Once I was at a major media awards dinner and I had counted on my date for the evening to be able to tie my tie for me....she couldn't do it either so I had to call reception dopwn stairs at the hotel and they sent someone up to do it for me.

It's obvious - only dicks wear ties when they don't have to.

I wore a tie during High School.

I dont think any different of men that choose to wear ties outside of work or formal events if anything I believe it shows more thought has gone into the way the person is dressed.

I just really can't imagine wandering down Soi Yodsak in a shirt and tie, although I have to admit that a tie does make for a great bondage session, why do you wear a tie torbek ?

    Geeks are good.

Men in ties look quite tempting anyway for some reason.

A few years back i was stumbling along in the early morning trying to put on my required tie. I yelled " I hate ties". The silence was deafening.

Some of the Thai staff still do not talk to me...

I'm not sure why but I'm attracted to the geekier men sometimes.

I used to watch Superman but dont remember it all that well to be honest. I think it is something about men in uniform. I know a tie isn't much of a uniform but it can be classed as one.

I'm talking about wearing a tie AT WORK or going TO and FROM work!!!

That MIGHT include dropping into a bar for a couple of sharpies on the way home...at which time I couldn't give a fuck if I am wearing a tie or not - I'm on my way home from work, for fuck's sake!

So if oit doesn't bother me why should it seem to bother others so much?

But no, I don't mean wearing a tie going out socially...

    Fuck it is hard sometimes.

now you are saying something different.

You must have a hang up about wearing ties - or are really looking for justification in being the only one who refuses to take it off after work (ie: so you can pretend you are still the 'boss')

It's all about the delusion of power in your mind Mr T.

What is wrong with you people? Can't you read my mind and work out what I am trying to say even though my words don'yt make it clear...

    Example:-

    1) Get on a van leaving work to be immediately greeted with "Hey! Take that tie off!" Only response possible "Get fucked, idiot. It doesn't bother me wearing it on my way home so why should it bother you? It is just a tie...not a political statement. Dick."

    2) Drop into a bar for a quick beer on the way home to be immediately greeted with "Hey! Take that tie off!" Only response possible "Get fucked, idiot. It doesn't bother me wearing it on my way home so why should it bother you? It is just a tie...not a political statement. Dick."

    Clearer now?

if anything I believe it shows more thought has gone into the way the person is dressed.
Think it's just a habit. I do think if i guy's wearin' a tie it shold be tied and the collar buttoned. When first got into indoor work, man i spen moneyon clothes and ties. Silk ties, fne wool gabradine slacks, suit or sports coats. linen or coton shirts. Good stuff, still got an armani I paid $1800.00 US for. After about a year I realized I was tired and getting up an extra 30 - 45 minutes early to slap on the duds was just a waste of pefectly good sleepin' time, it might of got me laid easyier but I never noticed a difference. Started weain' levis and long-sleeved tee-shirt type things to work. Met with many a CEOs, COOs, CFOs and a COBs (almost everyone of 'em SOBs by the way) dressed in my Levis and tee shirt after that, they weren't interested nmy clothes, just my brain and work-ethic.
Dude wears a tie improperly can look a real slob. Neat is neat; tie or no.
Still like puttn' on the dog once a year or so though, wore the Armani once travling up and down the Chao phraya on one of them boat-buses, got me some looks.
Figger they can burn me in the Armani, I'll maybe get my money's worth.

I like dressing smartly... You can walk around england or thailand muttering, dribbling, screaming incoherently with a pocket full of hard drugs and no pig with give you a 2nd look if you are dressed smartly... As for the twats who walk around in Bob marley spliffy t-shirts they deserve what they get
