Standing up to the cowards to not appear cowardly

Getting threatened with a team handed beating isn't unusual if you go looking for it - not that I was or ever would be mind you, just that I upset some street market vendor by stepping over his sheet of goods for sale on the pavement as I stepped out of a taxi - with my feet of course, how else? And there was no other way onto the pavement, as these 'stalls' were blocking the whole way all along.

He stood up very quickly, babbled on about being disrespectful because I was using my feet to step over his goods, and then told me that he and his two wanky looking accomplices would beat me up there and then.

By this time I had already walked into the nearest little shop and was unscrewing my bottle of root beer and swigging on it while this pony tailed moron barked his crap into my face.

"You're a big, brave man aren't you?" I told him in Thai "I bet girls are really impressed with you and you get lots of them don't you?" I said staring into his eyes. I wasn't really scared that much.

When he'd finished pointing and gesticulating, I asked him if he'd finished in Thai and then said "I'm really scared" also in Thai but in a sarcastic tone, deliberately. I then told him that I'd take him on one on one but he insisted that it had to be three of them VS. Me alone or it wouldn't be fair. - ("Wouldn't be fair?" I hear you say in disbelief)

I told him to fuck himself, pushed past him and walked off. I didn't look back.

As I was striding off, I did wonder, if he had called my bluff and taken me on, iI know for sure that it's Thai tradition (so I've heard) for every Thai male in the vicinity to join in if it's a farang who's on the recieving end. Which I do believe, from my own experiences and what I've seen.

Anyone with any experiences / stories to tell?

I love root beer with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in it.

The last time I was in a fist fight was 1972. I was eight.

^^I meant something relevant to a fight with a Thai not the beverage

Maybe I should have made it a bit clearer.

Hmmm, you will get away with it for being nearly Thai, for a farang they got to really hurt one of the cnuts real quick to stop it getting worse, ie stab the cnut or whatever, Thais don't play by queensberry rules, you wanna fok with them you got to hurt them real bad straight away or you got the whole gang on you.

    A&W rootbeer floats....

Nope, don't get into fights...it usually takes a braver man to walk away than to participate.

I have always believed in guns, if you have something serious to be discussed and you want them to listen to you a gun laid on the table in front of you sure helps their listening abilities, then again it aint something you need with a market vendor

Being part-Thai makes some Thais even more angry believe it or not, ie. the ignorant or ill-educated normally, but then again even the odd higher-so will still have the odd snide remark handy.

I'm aware that Thais will never adhere to the Marquess Of Queensberry's regulations and I'm also aware that even if I was lying on the floor with my face all booted in I'd still be the one more likely to be arreseted.

I won't be the one doing the beating DD that's for sure but I know a gym down Kao Talo Soi 8 that'd oblige, gently at first.

Anything wrong with apologising that you stepped on the guy's display, Pat?

This morning I was in McDonalds eating my breakfast and a Thai woman changed the nappy of her kid on the table next to me.

When the smell hit my nostrils I lost the rag and my appetite completely.

The ignorance of these people is astonishing.

When I got home later I did consider going back the next day to apologise but then I thought of him gesturing to his two mates when he was shouting at me and thought:

    "F**k him".

It is rather astonishing if you think about it, she probably did it on purpose.

You ever thought of that ?

Stroller redded me for that post.

He hates me pointing out the ignorance of Thai people.

It's difficult for him because deep down he knows I'm right.
