    Unhappy Shoplifting backfired on me

Yesterday I was in Chaweng having just tied up the final arrangements for an interview with Sek Loso at the weekend, when I decided I would stretch my budget to accommodate some new togs.

I went into this clothes market, you know the ones, and a white T-Shirt with long navy blue sleeves caught my eye and I decided I would ask to try it on, despite the fact it annoyingly had the word 'Abercrombie' stitched onto it which bore no meaning to me whatsoever.

Anyway, the shop was empty, I looked around and waited for an assistand but got pissed off with whoever they were for wasting my time so I shoved the T-Shirt down my trousers and fucked off.

Some 30 minutes later I arrived back in Lamai after a bloody battle between my cartoon devil and angel, on one hand I had saved 250, maybe 300 baht - on the other hand I may have ripped off an innocent and poor old Thai lady and being mostly honest and good hearted I could not live with myself and after a few 'What-should-I-do' phone calls I drove all the way back to own up and pay up and there in the shop were a Pakistani couple with lots of gold.

I said I had been in the shop earlier and recieved a call from my mother saying the house was on fire and had walked out of the shop with the T-Shirt down my trousers and driven to Lamai without realizing, and that I had realized this and returned to pay up.

They seemed confused at first but pleased nonetheless and had had no idea the shirt was even missing and informed me with a smile it was 800 baht. I think that was the moment when my cartoon devil headbutted my cartoon angel with such force that she fell off my shoulder.

I said it that was the same price as in London and the lady said this was not true but I offered 400 and they laughed as they shook their heads and I had to try my best not to explode with rage.

I almost left it there but I wanted it and had just let it go and that was too much to bear considering my honesty had seemed unregistered and that these were just con artists assuming I was a silly tourist.

500 baht I offered and they still laughed, and offered 750 as their lowest price so I reminded them that they were fucking lucky to get it back in the first place and that I'd driven from Lamai to return it. The man took this into account and we settled on 600.

That night (last night) I got absolutely shitfaced and was cursing myself for my honesty and boring anyone who would listen with the story. My ladyboy friends eventually made sure I got home okay and I awoke after four hours and vowed to return to the shop and tell them that I was not happy with their service and that I would like a refund, informing them that it will be more expensive to have me shot and that I am angry and crazy enough to make as many problems for them as I can.

I have not done this yet but I would like appreciate some advice, 600 baht is a lot of money to me and I know this is all my own fault but I'm rather childish for my age and I don't care and I want something done.

Taking it on the chin and learning from the experience is not an option.

If I knew then what I know now I would have gone back and asked how much those long sleeve Abercrombie T-Shirts were before revealing that I had one in the bag in my hand.

Upon hearing the words '800 baht' I could have simply walked away before starting my bike and flashing the bag shouting "Ha ha ha, already got one!" then speeding off.

You do act like a bit of a nob sometimes Scamp. I'd say you better just keep the t shirt and next time be a bit smarter. I mean if your gonna steal something, then steal it dude, don't go back to the shop with the item bargain for a price, pay the money and then realise the next day that price wasn't suitable for you so you want to return it.

Man you have got some fucking audacity to complain about their service, their service to who, a guilt ridden shoplifter?

In fact, go back to the shop and try to take it back, I'll be interested in reading the follow up story.

    I expect they'll give you a

I will give them a choice, if they refuse I will ask for a business card and take some photos of the shop, then smile and say thankyou and walk away giving them something to think about.

Why are they the ****s, coz you bought a t shirt off them and think your overcharged? I kinda figured your the **** here scampy.

So you tried robbing them, and you messed it up, and now your as usual whinging about it coz its of course you take a little responsibilty about the whole thing but mainly its their fault you're in this predicament.

Take a bit of responsibilty for your actions. Learn a few lessons in life while your at it.

Why don't you go back and steal 2 more - 200 baht each seems reasonable, if your trousers are big enough.

The t shirt these shysters were selling is obviously a counterfeit Abercrombie.

So who does that make the thief?

The crux is that I stole a T-Shirt from them without knowing how much money I was saving and upon returning it, not only is my honesty unregistered but they try to sting me for 800!

They should give me a discount for returning it, even though I nicked it but that's not how my logic works.

And yes I am a nutter, and I don't like Indians who come to Thailand to rip off foreigners, that's up to the Thai's to do, and I want to teach them a lesson.

They tried to justify their price by saying it was genuine, which maybe it was - and I hate paying for a name. The one thing I disliked about it was the fucking name stitched all over it.

oh, it is all about INDIANS , is it?

well, they may well be 2nd, 3rd or even more generation, and are Thai born and bred.

You say they should give you a discount for returning it when they know you stole it; they probably have you on CCTV. Have you ever been in a Thai jail? Your honesty could be registered there.

Maybe you should go back and give them another B1000 for being nice to you.
    I have reported your post

You're honesty that was so obvious in returning a shirt you stole?

Its that bratty little kid logic really aint it dude, the constant whinger.

And yes I am a nutter, and I don't like Indians who come to Thailand to rip off foreigners, that's up to the Thai's to do, and I want to teach them a lesson.
Ah, so heres the point, fucking pakis! Burn the shop down scamp! Thats all they deserve. And when the Thais rip you off you can scream about the Thais as well being greedy ****s.

I hope they end up teaching you a lesson Scamp, coz the first one they taught you hasn't sunk in yet obviously.

    You said it...

Try growing up and stop acting like the immature spoilt brat you are.. the only person responsible for the mess you usually find yourself in is YOU, and not the countless others you like to blame.

If I was the shop owner I would have done Thailand a favour and called the police who hopefully would have kicked you ass out of the country, after a spell in the monkeyhouse where you could have become friendly with some more ladyboys.

Good point Cantona, he does seem to have a similar tenous grasp on reality; fitting all the facts to his own viewpoint rather than that of the outside world.

we should be able to tell soon, if we all gang up - his girlfriend will suddenly die.

    Bloddy fuckin' idiot.
Gets away with the theft of s shirt. Then goes back and snitches in himself. Like any where in Thailand someones going to go "Oh, you so honit, 50 baht OK?"
You've admitted your guilt and really have no recourse to pay on demand.

I agree with FF on this one - if you steal something you steal it , not return to the shop like some guilty schoolboy pussy.

    Update:

I returned to the shop today to take a shit on the floor but there were too many customers inside and I was embarrassed so out of the corner of my mouth I was whispering "Don't buy here, they'll rop you off" through gritted teeth, but was getting funny looks so I went to Bookazine to kill some time reading the NME cover to cover until my legs were aching, then I sped back down to the shop but I was distracted by a Halle Berry lookalike and slammed into a Kiwi couple coming out of Burger King who as a result are not ok but they will live.

The bike needs a new wheel as it is bent and I have some cuts and I will return to the shop tomorrow with a new plan.
