    Hobbies in Thailand

well apart from shagging and drinking ppl really need some hobbies, especially the older guys cos they cant shag no more nor drink that much, so what would be a good hobby to have here?

now me I'm thinking of buying one of those 2 man sailing boat thingys, in the UK the ones i used to use were called toppers, no idea what sort of thing they would have here, obviously living 400meters from the beach my new hobby should involve the sea, now diving is out for me as i broke a bone in my foot many years ago and it plays up like buggery if i got the old flippers on,( why the fok do dive instructors hate flippers being called flippers?) so i think its gonna be back to sailing.
bowling i hate as i used to be real good at it and now im shite at it.
anything that involves relying on a thai i aint gonna do, although i have heard that the female caddies at the golf course offer extras, but the idea of golf bores me.
computers i love but that really dont get you out and about and there aint no exercise in punching a keyboard.

so what hobbies or sports do you do?

Dont discount golf dog. It does take a while to get good at it but it is great exersize and I will bet that you will get business out of playing it.

Never try to beat the person that you are playing with. Just try and better your score from the last game.
You will find that you will improve quickly and then will come the day that you hear that sweet ping when you hit that ball just right and it goes exactly where you intended it to.

At that point you will find that wild horses wont keep you away from the golf course.

    I paint

well I used to - I haven't been inspired lately

but I keep meaning to take it up again, and try acrylics rather than the wishy washy water colours I am used to

    :P

Not at all hirondelle. You know I will only ever encourage your posts.
First off, I dont know what klimt is but moreover I just cant see the dog with a palette and brush in hand embracing the world of art. He just aint the Van Gogh type if you see what I mean.
I had thought that the dog had taken up bingo and one day hoped to be the No 1 Pattaya bingo caller but he refuted that. He is ageing fast though. Once you reach 40 you get that mid life crisis thingy happening.

ahhh, i have to admit i got thrown out of art classess at school, the teacher said i was wasting both mine and her time trying to learn something that i had not the slightest bit of talent for, so i spent that lesson time wandering round the bike sheds smoking cigarettes each week, oh and nicking all the plums from the only plum tree in the school that was gaurded by teachers during every school break

^^:? Right then, thats me told. Sorry. Strangely I just see the dog with a beret and an ear missing.

While I am here though I would like to point out that the dog said he cant do diving cos the flippers hurt.
    Nonsense I say.
I am sure that Harry can give the dog a contact who would happily manufacture some orthopedic fins.
Frankly I think that it is coz the poms dont like water.

I plan to enrol in flying school once I relocate to the LoS & hope to obtain my pilots license as quickly as possible. It's a tad expensive over here as you might imagine.

    The plan is then...

    1) Obtain Student Pilot License. This requires an Aptitude test and a Medical.

    2) Ground Training. (Some self study is required also.)

    3) 40 Hours of Practical Flight Training. (This includes a minimum of 10 hours solo and some cross country flights).

    4) Private Pilot License exams.

There are residential courses in Thailand, which will take you from having little or no flying experience to having your PPL (Private Pilot License) within a month. The cost of this is around £3000.
