Right, there seems to be more than a few threads/posts bemoaning the service in Thailand (or lack thereof) so I thought I'd start one on the positives. A nod to those restaurants/bars/Co.'s/whatever that seem to go out of their way to make life easier. Ok, so I'll start shall I...

American Express(Thailand)
In all my time having an Amex card I've yet to encounter a single problem. Actually, to be more specific, I have encountered problems but not one that wasn't resolved quickly and easily. The call-centre is beyond reproach, the staff are friendly, curteous and speak excellent English.

On top of all of which if you spend over X amount in any given month they're always giving you free shite and they reward you with points that you can accumulate to either purchase or discount other items! Superb.

Not the cheapest, certainly not the fastest, but absolutely no BS with them. If they tell you it will take a week, it will take a week. If they tell you it will cost X amount, it will cost X amount. In the rare event that is going to end up costing over the quoted amount they call, explain the issue, and present as many options as possible (not just the one that will cost the most). Anything previously repaired that is faulty again is fixed for no charge. Not so much as a smudge or a grease stain is left on the car before it's returned to you.

Have never had a problem either. Would like them to do a little more to get AMEX accepted at more establishments though.

I do some banking at Citibank and have always found service to be very good. Much better than any of the Thai Banks I do business with. Downside they only have one branch in Thailand.

Last but not least, my computer guy. If I have a problem, I call him and he will be at my house straight away and stay until he fixes the problem.

I was going to mention that actually. But it has noticeably improved in the last few years - here in Chiang Mai at any rate.

Good news is not news. Excellent thread rebuttal (feckin lawyer).

The aircon guys at Udon Thani's ring road, Saijo Denki. Installed my beasty (thanks DD) AC unit in my rental house in Udon and when my NK house was done, moved it out there. No drama, no hidden fees, no problems.

It is notable, however, only because I expected all of the above.

That's a good point actually. The service could in all reality be fair-to-middling but as long as there's no problems the sense of relief seems to make it better.

Surprisingly, True have always been pretty good for me.

My TT&T line went dead on a Friday evening.
Service guy called on Saturday saying he had a lot of repairs so he would not be able to show up that day.
Service center called and told me it would take 3-4 days to get the line repaired.
Ferkin hell, long time without internet..
On Sunday two guys showed up, the cable repair man and the ADSL technichan.
Line got repaired within an hour and checked for ADSL quality.
On a SUNDAY !!
(yea, I tipped them a few houndred baht afterwards for excellent service)

My Landpeople are very helpful at my new pad.

Asavavant Dentist on Thonglor provide a superb service and are up there with Harley Street for service, at the same price as lesser places charge.

In Australia, first of all you have to fill the gas in your car yourself.

tonight i get out put the bowser pump into the car and wait for it to be turned on, after a minute or so an attendent comes out and says i'll have to wait a minute becuase he's changing the price, up 10 cents, hang on I was already here, nope sorry you have to pay new price.

OK, i left and refused. next station, attendent waves me to come inside, how much gas do you want? I dunno, its not my car, but you have to prepay, can i leave my credit card, nope, tell me an amount, but if i'm wrong do i get a refund? nope.

needless to say I drove off away from that dickhead too!

I am not sure what any of you think, but Saim Commercial Bank has been spot on for me. Every branch has been over the ttop on service and they have more ATM's in Thailand than 7-11's

I think Thai girls offer great service, they're always up for it and are cheap to maintain and never complain too much

Surprisingly my Thai landlords. All but one (I've had five) were excellent to deal with. Prompt at getting things installed/repaired and generally nice folk.

I probably pay slightly more than market (Thai) but they seem to want to keep me happy.

I second this. First rate, pain free service.

My contribution, Samitivej Hospital on Sukhumvit. Their platinum card service just got better since they have teamed up with BNH and Bangkok hospital. Very clean and efficient, easily on a par with the best private London hospitals at a fraction of the cost.

I would've included Chiang Mai Ram Hospital in my intial post - the Dr's and nurses were brilliant, room was amazing (seperate living room/kitchen) and they looked after me wee fella's very well. However the follow-up care has left a lot to be desired, the nurse for the home-visit check-up never even showed.

This hasn't been my experience with them at all. I will say that Asanavant is better than Samitivej for dental work though.

It was mine. First the triage nurse sent me to a muscle doctor instead of a stomach one (why the doctors here can't deal with the whole body like in the UK I'll never know). Then the fool of a 'muscle specialist' tried to diagnose a slipped disc for food poisoning.

I've not been back.
