Following from Rawlins thread. Whats the best airport youve visited?
I think i goto go with Schiphol. Plenty of things to do if your delayed for hours.

1. Singapore
2. Hong Kong
3. Schiphol
The rest are far back of these 3 top in the world.
Changhi, Singapore.
^
Forgot about that one. Yep its up there, with the best
Singapore or Schipol - both are very pleasant as far as airports go.
Hong Kong
Changi, Singapore
Kuala Lumphur - for layout & style
New Beijing - for size
Arlanda, Stockholm - simple, Nordic
Copenhagen, Denmark - elegant & simple
singapore changi. no others come close
Heathrow may well be a shit hole but for me its great, every time i go there i'm leaving England for a while!
LHR gets my vote
Schipol (draft beers at the gates)
Hong Kong
Samui (they've remodeled it and it looks quite nice)
Incheon (well, except for the Koreans everywhere)
Santa Barbara Co Airport.
Just the right size...
Denver Int'l is top flight. New, cool and efficient. But...too far from town.
I quite like Orlando, perhaps a bit big though.
Hong Kong was impressive too.
Schipol or Singapore for ease of transferring and getting around .
Best for friendly and helpful staff in my experience was Reykajvik in Iceland.
Was on a diverted flight from Amsterdam to Ontario ( engine problem they said) and landed there.( 1981 ?)
The replacement aircraft that was sent had a seating capacity that was 4 less than the original and we were asked by the airline who would wait a day for the next flight.
I was in no real hurry so I said I would stop.
Airline put us into a nondescript hotel( all paid ) for the night - another Brit and a Dutch couple.
Just settled in when the reception called and told me I had visitors ? WTF?
Went down and there were 5 of the airport staff from the information desk who had spent a couple of hours sorting out the mess, and the other 3 stranded souls LOL, they were going to show us Iceland tradition- There was a saga reciting contest on that night.
What a night !
BBQ Booze Dancing ( a bit of surreptitious groping)etc etc etc
Best evening for a long time
Back at the hotel they wouldnt let us pay for anything .
In the morning I thanked the Manager at the airport and he knew nothing about it !
It seemed that the staff had done it off their own backs !!!
Still in touch with one of them .
What triggered this off is the fact that her Xmas card is sitting on top of my computer !
Cant remember what the airport was like though
^ I didn't want to mention the return
The New Beijing airport looks a bit special!!!
Foster + Partners
Its gotta be Schipol you can smoke in the majority of the terminal, even the smelly stuff.
The draft Grolch is also decent btw.
Hong Kong, Changi, Kastrup (CPH)...
getting somewhat 'atracted' to brussels as well, but I guess that's just because of the fast track
Find KLIA nice as well, but it's too far from KL proper to my liking (same as Arlanda)
Gotta go with Singapore
Singapore. The Cactus Bar on the rooftop is fab. You can also buy a drink from the main bar and go sit in the huge, ventilated smoking room to the right of it.
Samui airport is a charmer. Drink at the outdoor bamboo bar and then the staff will call you when they're getting ready to close the gate and you can take your beer into the waiting lounge (well, I did use the place every 2nd wkend when I worked in Singapore). The main restaurant is crap tho and way overpriced crap. A few noodle shops across the road. Never eat BKK Airways inflight food on the outbound flights from Samui if you want to save on toilet time.
The New HK Airport is so...dismal. All that gray. They need some huge paintings.
Vancouver airport has lots of cool Indian stuff. OK bars and restaurants, but really expensive. And no smoking. (Fek, even new-age belt Denver has a bar where you can smoke.) Just don't make a scene or the RCMP will taser you.
The one at Viettane (Loas).
$5 buffet dinner including beer and wine
Singapore - lots of activity for a long layover and the outside smoking garden is nice, only problem is you need reservations about a month in advance for using the in-terminal hotel.
Hong Kong - nicely done and you can get coffee anytime
Narita - organized (as any Japanese system is) nice shower area, good food and a nice bar in the center.
Zurich - even during major reconstruction it was well organized and reasonably clean and neat. Decent staff and good beers.

Don't ask the question!"
Hong Kong (Superb)
KL (Pretty good, but in the middle of nowhere)
Perth (People seemed to be enjoying themselves there)
Suwannapoom (Airplane to office in 40 mins - no complaints there)
Phnom Penh (Small but nice)
I like Zaboomafu airport (or whatever the new Bangkok airport is called) because its much more convenient for Pattaya. Erm I mean Sriracha
Hong Kong does it for me too
