We are currently looking to recruit foreigners who want to work with one of Bangkok’s Police Departments as a Police Volunteer.

The Volunteer Police Program is a great opportunity for private citizens to participate in the promotion of public safety. Volunteer Police have proven to be an invaluable resource to the police department and the local community by performing uniformed patrols to assist the Thai Police to communicate more effectively with tourists and vice versa.

Interaction with the public and supplying information about Thai culture and events will enhance police-community relations. Another important function of Police Volunteers is serving as a citizen- ready reserve in the event of an emergency or natural disaster.

Our Volunteer Police Program is a rewarding opportunity to work with the police in a variety of challenging roles. As a volunteer, you will have numerous meaningful opportunities to support our officers in an effort to strengthen the community in which we live.

Our volunteer program falls into four categories:

Patrol: Volunteers are often in the community working alongside officers on crime prevention initiatives by communicating directly with tourists who are in need of police or other assistance.

Education: Volunteers work directly with officers in the community, providing educational tools, resources and information to foreign businesses, agencies, schools and groups.

Support: Front desk assistance at community stations provide customer service, while clerical and administrative translations help with phone inquiries.
    .
Training: This particular role helps with the facilitation of English in the classroom to help the Thai Police with communication skills and to heighten their understanding of western culture and differences that could cause sensitive situations.

If you are interested in joining our program email us with the following:

    Full name
    Nationality
    Passport number
    Age
    Languages spoken
    Home address
    Work, home and cellular number(s)
    Best time to call
How long you have been residing in Thailand.

    Conditions:

A thorough background check will be conducted on each volunteer.

Volunteers must attend the seminar and pass the training test.

Volunteers do not receive salaries or benefits. This is strictly a volunteer program.

TPD will not be held responsible for any losses or accidents during volunteer work.

Volunteers understand that being a volunteer is to assist the work of a police officer and not act on behalf of a police officer.

Volunteers will not be involved in activities such as arrests, interrogations, investigations or inspections.

Volunteers must pass probation before receiving a Certificate of Appreciation from the Department.

That would include loss of life, as well, I guess.

I think the aged parent would like a pic of me in uniform. Other than that, doesn't sound too exciting.
