Hard To Find Western Food And Other Items.

I was going to start this thread as a where to find Christmas food or items, and thought to just make it about anything you are looking for in Thailand.

I am looking for Egg Nog. I have been to Foodland and a couple other places and have not seen it. The wife has never had it and I want her to try it.

Anyone know where I can get it?

Anyone else been looking for something and can't find it?

If you see something at a store that surprises you becasue you did not expect to see it in Thailand, then you might post it here too.

    Dozen eggs, separated
about a pound of sugar Powdered (or not if yu can't find it)
    1 Qt. milk
    1 Qt heavy Cream
    half Pint of 151 Rum,
Pint Wild turkey or another good bourbon
    Pint cognac
whip the egg yolks til frothy adding in the powdered sugar
if you can't find powdered sugar and use granulated you may have to add the sugar to warmed milk and let it cool before starting the process
add the booze milk and cream beating the mixture all the while
Beat 6 or so of the eggs whites, hell use 'em all if you want until soft peaks form
Fold them in to the mixture mixing so it's nice a frothy
Keep in the fridge or freezer is better (it won't freeze, trust me)
have plenty of fresh ground nutmeg, Cinnamon if you like
Serve up in crystal cups, mugs or old fruit jars, serve withj the nutmeg/cinnamon sprinkled over the top.

This recipe if kept in the freezer will not taste much of the booze, will stay think and frothy and will not freeze. If you wuss out on the amount of booze it may not have the anti freeze properties but will taste pretty good kept cold in the fridge.

    So why Buy?
If you want non alcoholic Eggnog maybe less egg whites and it should be OK. Nutmeg is important here. Cinnamon not so.

    Eggnog is a toughie.

Best make it yourself, as FF suggests.
