I just had an sms from a mate saying that his gf has dumped him because she saw a fortune teller at the weekend who said that she would marry an asian man.
Do many Thais do this hocus pocus bs?
Are they really supersticious or just too lazy to make their own decisions?

One of my students was told she would marry when she was 30. She waited till she was 30 and it didn't happen. Now she considers herself too old to be able to get a husband.
Tough lesson.

When I was a teenager I went to a fortune teller in Blackpool who told me that sex before marriage would ruin my life. A lot of things have made a mess of certain parts of my life, but sex before marriage certainly wasn't one of them.
I think they often tell clients things that fit with their (the fortune teller's) personal morals or agenda.

A fortune teller told my Mum that she would have 2 rings. I think she meant that she would get married twice, but I have the sneaking suspicion that the fortune teller misread the signs and that she saw my mum's wedding ring and her, err, 'other ring-piece'.
