    Thought About Getting Drunk Tonight...........

Anyone that knows me well would be shocked by that statement. I used to drink often. Well, alot. Well every day. I quit in 1995 and vowed never to touch the stuff. I made it until April of 2001 and fell off the wagon for a few weeks. I have not had a feeling or thought to drink since then. It was a big mistake and I wish I had not.

Tonight, for some reason, I found myself looking at a Bottle of 100 Pipers and longing to do some serious drinking

Not 100 Pipers of course, but a single malt scotch whiskey............should I or should'nt I??????

I went on a life threatening bender when I was 20 (no food for weeks on end) and now at 26 drink about 10 bottles a month. It aint a fucking disease just use a little self restraint.

A half pint of booze a day while not terribly excessive is hardly insignificant.

I can relate to the urge, But it will pass. Tomorrow you can savor the clarity of not having a fuzzy head.

And just think of the money you'll save, 4-6K for a good single malt.

Go for it! If you want it so bady, don't restrain yourself. Just drink in moderation. You'll drink even more if you feel like you missed out on booze.

If you need to ask other people forget it .

Getting drunk should be a spontanious thing not something you put out for a vote . Its about having a few drinks on a night out having fun getting carried away with it all a few more ejoying yorself untill you go to get up off your barstool and realise your legs arent what they were when you first sat down . Yup your pissed !

Too late to answer, as you either did or didn't. My vote would have been "don't" though. The battle against the booze seems to be something you're proud of winning & it doesn't deserve to be chucked away through an urge which you don't usually feel.

My BF was an alcoholic (little boy's father). He had severe liver cirrhosis. That's not the whole reason he died (he got pneumonia), but basically, all his organs were fucked from the booze & they all shut down, one by one. At that time his son was 4. He used to stop for months at a time, and then start again.

To my shame, not even his death has stopped me drinking (I stop for a few months & then start again); although I'm nowhere near his level, I do drink some beer virtually every evening. If you were a problem drinker, don't go back there. My littl'un & I can attest that it's not worth it.

Like good old WC said, "there are two kind of drinkers, those there drink to little, and those there drink too much" just take the middle road and you'll be fine...

Good luck to you mate. I went off the piss for 4 years once. Then back on again for another 4 years (virtually worst years of my life). Then back off again for a year after I moved to Thailand. I got married during this time and had we had our first child. Now back on the piss again for the past 5 years. I quit for a month or so, and drift back onto to it not knowing how or why it happened.

I have elected to be off it again. Although being only 2 days now, I am hoping for at least a year or so. Who knows?

I have tried being the social drinker, but that only ever lasts a couple weeks before I am back full on the piss.

Cigarettes, I can put down at will. I smoke maybe 1 or 2 cigarettes now and again. A pack will last me a month. Other "chemicals" never did anything for me, and I never got hooked as a young man.

..........alcohol is the only thing that I can't control!!!!!!

Well it is a 1/4 of the daily amount that the British government considers safe. American puritanism is deeply ingrained

Well as the original post was talking about bottles of whiskey everyone probably thought you were drinking 10 bottles of whiskey per month!

I've been on the booze a bit recently, and it does make you feel a little strange.
Maybe those Puritan folk have a point, but who listens to them anyway.
