wind your watch forward or not?

Are you one of these people that sets their deliberately fast 5 minutes or so?

I used to do this but realised after a few days/weeks I began working on the fact that it was 5 mins fast and then there was no point.

My galfriend sets her watch forward 20 bladdy minutes, its ridiculous! And she is late to everything anyway! (never mind the bladdy alarm goes off at 5.10, she she can snooze for 20 minutes!!!!)

    What about you?

I used to do that too.
    But 20 minutes is nuts.

I only wear a watch these days when I'm making airplane connections.
That and my favorite Seiko broke and Seiko Thailand is impossibly incompetent. (6 months now still waiting for a repair)

I set my watch to the correct time but always make sure that I'm early. I actually begin to fret if I feel I'm going to be late. If I then get to an appointment on time and am then made to wait, I will walk out irrespective of the result.

That is me too, exactly, and correct to the second, if it is off I know how many seconds it is too.

I am a stickler for being prompt and insist of it in others, if you can not be on time then deal with someone else.

I have even raised hell with Doctors appointment times in the states when it has been necessary to see one of the assholes, and I am always 15 minutes before my time, then if I don't at least get into the inner office by 15 minutes after, I check with the receptionist, and she is notified that if I have to wait past the appointed time that I will file for lost wages at XX dollars per hour for any waiting time I am forced to wait, and if they do not pay it I will file in small claims court and let them settle it.

You be surprised at how fast they can get you in..

I'm a stickler for punctuality in myself. My watch/clocks are set to the right time, but I always make sure I'm slightly early for appointments. However, although lateness in others annoys me, I'd never walk out of an appointment or cause a fuss. I carry a book everywhere with me & just settle down to read when others keep me waiting. I even take a book with me when I go out with female friends; it passes the time when they go to the loo - I can never figure out why some women take so long in the toilet?!?

It was always my intention (never got around to it, of course) to write to The Guardian's Notes & Queries section asking if there was any scientific or statistical evidence that people who set their watches fast were any more punctual than people who set them at the right time. I suspect not, because of the 'adjustment' factor you mentioned.

Hahahahahahahaha! That would get you to the bottom of the queue in most doctors offices.

Doctors can give the best excuses for running behind time where you would be made to look like a real git.

Had to rush out and deliver a baby, had to resusitate an old man, had to have an extended consultation with a child with a terminal illness etc.

Your claim would not have a leg to stand on.

I don't think so, everyone knows doctors over book , and I was serious, I would have had their ass in small claims court for lost wages payments and I would have won because everyone knows it is the truth.

Reguardless, I never had to wait long after I talked to the employee.

Same problem. Used to wear a Seiko Kinetic. The strap broke so went to Seiko to have it replaced. Said they didn't have one in stock but they would order it and call me when it came in. Three years now and still no phone call!

No, I don't even wear a watch anymore. My always present hand phone gives me the time. Use the reminder function to give me a heads up if I have an appointment.

Stopped wearing a watch since I came to Thailand and never really know what day of the week it is. I like it that way, more relaxed.

never wore a watch until my ex gave me one for my birthday. Wore it till it broke (the marriage). never could understand why people set their watch fast. My phone has a clock I always set it right on. I want to know what time it is I want to know see no reason to purposely set up a math problem to answer to my question.
My ol lady has her phone set ten minutes fast, she sets the car clock 12 minutes fast. Fucks her all up when I put it on real time No matter she's never on time any way.
