If it were me I'd do some zipline in Laos at Tad Fane, then gead south for Sepan Don and do the same. Maybe a bungee jump, no Tommy, no no no no. Not that "jump." I've done those other things and my scruples are still firmly attached though I have dragged them across a rock or two on the way down.

The coolest part of the " forgot what they called it other than in my mind the most unregulated ride you'll ever have.
Whoa Tommy, That's not what I mean.. I'm sure we all have ran a red light and navigate as sailors as we navigate the shoals.

LoL, already jogged 5 Km at 5 am before my lessons... star jumps are easy to do in the space between my table and the backdrop wall.

    Respect.

I'm just around that level now. Though not at that ungodly hour.

Have you always been into fitness, or did you take it up a few years ago?

Have you always been into fitness, or did you take it up a few years ago?
Very good question. When I was teaching in Naypyitaw (Burma) at the age of 57, I was podgy and unfit, drank beer every night, ate crap food.

I had seen quite a few of my friends succumb to serious illnesses (alcoholism, diabetes, ugly-fat-bastard syndrome etc). I made the decision that I wanted to be reasonably fit and healthy by the time I was 60 years old, because (I argued), it would be easier to maintain a level of fitness after 60, rather than struggling to lose the flab after 60.

So I methodically wrote down my daily food intake and then SLOWLY made changes, (so as not to shock my system lol). I tried to minimise sugars, such as in processed foods, but still get my sugar intake from fructose in fruits. I started to eat more veggies, eat a handful of nuts every day, make my own kefir milk etc. I cut down but did not eliminate beer.

At first, it was like eating rabbit food. But as I continued with this diet my taste buds got used to it and now I enjoy crunching on carrots..

At the same time I wanted to get fitter and lose some flab. I was never really hugely overweight - I weighed 74 Kg in a smallish body size (Thai man size). I started to jog and cycle every day and do some moderate weight training in the gym. At first it felt like sheer murder, hence the need to slowly jog just 100 metres, then increase it.

Now I weigh 63 Kg, and I can jog 10 Km in about 49 minutes. My resting heart rate has dropped from about 70 to 45, (35 when I'm sleeping). My BP is totally normal - very good for my age.

But in general, I feel so much healthier and clear of mind nowadays.

I'm absolutely not a fitness freak. I do regular and moderate exercise, eat healthily, and have eliminated the things that can stress people out (job you don't like, bitching/greedy wife/GF etc).

I spend most days teaching online for a few hours. I mainly teach younger kids, about 8 -12 years old. Being a dad myself (long ago!), I can't get angry at all when the kids are noisy etc - they are just happy young kids. There is no stress from my job

Sure, I could get hit my a bus. But if I'm lying dead on the road, at least some women might say 'wow, look at the abs on that old guy '
Groping women when you're old is fine - everyone thinks you're senile

Simon, quite inspirational. It takes some willpower to make the changes you have and stick to them. I need to tweak a few things, probably more exercise which ain't easy as I smashed both ankles long ago and over time its slowly meant having to give up the sports i loved; rugby, football and 5 a side. The dietary changes too. Still you went about it the right way and took it on in small steps and ts obviously paying dividends. I agree with the do it before 60 thought, probably 50 because like most things it doesn't get easier the older you get.

loL, well since you asked, I alluded to this somewhere in previous posts. God knows why, but I love being a sex slave to some horny woman. Being 'forced' to do some weird sexual act with her and beaten severely if I misbehave. I've had great fun being shackled and whipped by a Thai hotty or two....

Probably developed this kink from the aggression from my mad ex #2......

@simon - well done to you! I'm younger than you, but you're probably fitter! Though I do try to exercise, especially if I have a hike coming up - which is soon!

Anyway, having read your "vice", shall I fly over to Bkk and bring my leather boots, catsuit and whip? I can be a Madame Vandersexx briefly, for your birthday.

Cheers and hope you've had a good bday!

(Madame Vandersexx was a character in the movie Euro Trip. There are clips on YouTube).

What are you treating yourself to for the big 6-0 Simon?

Maybe get super-sized pair of onions with a testicular implant to max out the lycra bound package at the gym?

Bugger-all, apart from a good laab moo and a bottle of beer tonight. Sadly, I will have to decline Katie's offer because I'm in the middle of darkest Issan right now.

I got a lot of Happy birthday messages from my students and teachers, but not a thing from my ex's and family. That about sums up how they feel about me ==> when he gives us money, we act happy, when he doesn't he can go fcuk himself

... and that suits me just fine...

Although I only recently moved up here from Ranong, it looks likely that I won't stay much longer in Thailand because of the visa rules and jump-through-moving-hoops mentality of the authorities. I can't (or don't want to) get a new visa when mine expires. I did seriously consider moving back to Andorra again, but the timezone will bugger up my current online teaching of Chinese kids. It looks like I'll move over to Laos for a few years and then move to Andorra maybe when I stop teaching (at 65, 95??).

Actually, I looked at that pig photo and thought 'My balls are bigger than his...' (I balance them on my bike crossbar when cycling)

    Firstly HBD S 43.

I read your life change summary. Congrats on the goal. I went down that path late 40's early 50's. I wasn't fat nor really out of shape just wasn't where I felt I wanted to be. I went on a mission like you did. It takes total will power and commitment. I have to say though, after about 4 years or so I personally did not want to sustain it anymore. I really did not like the bland food I was convincing myself that tasted good, eating so structured and then breaking it and feeling guilty. Its a strange dynamic. I was passing on food I liked and had always enjoyed and committing to exercise all the time. I will say you feel better and of course ones self confidence soars when you feel like you are trim and lean being the way society is so heavily driven against fat people. Of course the health factor is the big plus and if one has a family history of illness and ailments then it is a change that almost has to be taken seriously if one wants to potentially avoid them.

I gained back about 8 -10 lbs back after I stopped but funny my friends and Mom said I looked so much healthier that I was too skinny before and they worried about me. Now nearing 60 I pretty much eat what I want, still have tons of energy and my last physical was spot on.

    Keep at it.

BTW, way TMI on your sexual preferences.
