A wee bit o' bamboo rafting up North. We all like to get wet now n again.
Dill, I'm no expert but I think you have a personality disorder. Have you considered shock therapy?
When in Rome.....
Copy what the locals do.
My hat for outdoor work is a 10 Baht straw hat.
Just like every farm worker wears and every village corner shop sells.
That's 146$ cheaper than the Op's 146$ hat.
And no import tax.
Lighter, and replaceable everywhere if lost or set on fire.
And when its really really hot and i'm working, an Ebay $1.99 head sweatband underneath keeps the sweat drips out of my eyes.
Here endeth today's lesson.
In saving 146$ +import tax on a hat.
Thank me later.
The Geebung Polo Club is a pub in Melbournes Eastern suburbs. I've had a few there. Aparently the owner was in Brisbane and saw the suburb of Geebung on Brisbanes northside and like the name so he incorporated it into the Pubs name. Geebung incidentally is a mostly industrial suburb.

I didn't know that... it's a Patterson or Lawson poem.
Patterson.
It was somewhere up the country in a land of rock and scrub,
That they formed an institution called the Geebung Polo Club.
They were long and wiry natives of the rugged mountainside,
And the horse was never saddled that the Geebungs couldn't ride;
But their style of playing polo was irregular and rash -
They had mighty little science, but a mighty lot of dash:
And they played on mountain ponies that were muscular and strong,
Though their coats were quite unpolished, and their manes and tails were
long.
And they used to train those ponies wheeling cattle in the scrub:
They were demons, were the members of the Geebung Polo Club.
It was somewhere down the country, in a city's smoke and steam,
That a polo club existed, called the Cuff and Collar Team.
As a social institution 'twas a marvellous success,
For the members were distinguished by exclusiveness and dress.
They had natty little ponies that were nice, and smooth, and sleek,
For their cultivated owners only rode 'em once a week.
So they started up the country in pursuit of sport and fame,
For they meant to show the Geebungs how they ought to play the game;
And they took their valets with them - just to give their boots a rub
Ere they started operations on the Geebung Polo Club.
....and so on. You can imagine how it turns out
This hat not coming back? Or another nic now?
I may have gave the wrong impression? I too have work hats that I buy from the Ma & Pa shop. And as per you I use them and abuse them and then toss them aside. I have a couple of other decent hats that I wear when going for a beer etc. One's a police baseball cap and the other is an 8 pointer. Not something you'd wear to church on a Sunday but okay to be seen out in. My Akubra isn't meant to be a working hat. It's a hat to what my wife would find acceptable when we go out together. If you get me drift. So worth the money.
I don't want to show off but I have two hats.
My 'special forces' bush hat is for every day use round the garden.
I also have a Captain's hat which I used to wear when playing with radio-controlled boats on the pond with my daughter. Unfortunately she's all grown up now, and at nearly eight years old gets embarrassed by me. I now save this hat just for the bedroom.
I'm not going to risk putting a picture of meself wearing a hat on this thread, so thankfully Dan, my 13 year-old volunteered to model them.
You gawdamned take that back!Originally Posted by Luigi

While funny, Prag is a good guy. Now do a" Luigi and Fishlocker" with a GoPro and I will green you until the button on my laptop doesn't work....
I think TD is Dil's therapy...In a way we are all sitting in the room and he is spilling his guts....
Nothing wrong with an Akubra.Fine hats. I owned one for years until I lost it in a house move.
Now all you need is a pair of R.M Williams boots.
