You need to start posting more 1 liners Frankie, or splitting your longer musings into 3 or 4 posts.

Fuck man, Thanks! a simple statement like that Makes my fucking day. No shit!
    But, Iyam what Iyam
Dropped out of HS at 15
Got my HS diploma at 21.
Did some college, at about 40 or so; aced what I wanted to; flunked the rest. One semester i took 21 units, Fuckin crashed and burned on that one, jack. Did do well in the communications/writing course til I dropped it, still got a C, the stuff they wanted me to write about was, uncomfortable for me. It comes out easier now 13 - 14 years later.
My granny used to put a book in my hands as I was learning to talk. Grew up reading. Six years inside an institution of criminal 'higher learning' you get alot of opportunity to read, it becomes habit. Everything (OK, damn near) I've ever learned, I taught myself.
History is littered with fuckers that had less education than me and wrote a fuck of a lot better. One of my favorite writers Stien/Steinbeck was one. Read some of his shit, then read Vonnegut, swear he was influenced by Stien/Steinbeck. Steinbeck can turn a phrase and write dialog that makes you laugh out loud.
Much like some fo the things you write my friend.
I wish I could be as funny as half the fuckers on this board.

Frankie, you may not bring out the belly laughs of some but there's not many who are as interesting as you.
You have a laconic style that makes you 'familiar' to your readers.
Some one in my past told me that anyone who can write has read a lot of books.
I'm amazed at the different authors that I've seen people name as someone they've read.
People like blackjack and danbo. Always name dropping some author whom I've only heard of but never read.
    Now Vonnegut??
I've read "Grapes of Wrath" but that's the only Steinbeck.
I guess I played too much pool.

    Hmmm,,,
    la·con·ic ( P ) Pronunciation Key (l-knk)
adj. Using or marked by the use of few words; terse or concise
    OK...
We'll have to shoot a few games some day soon then. Got my 23 Oz cue gatherin' dust for the past coupla years ni the corner. Think if I make it to the 28th shindig I oughta bring it?
Only a few authors every impressed me enough to remeber their names.
If you get a chance, try cannery row by steinbeck. it's got dunken fools, whorehouses and if you've read vonnegut you'll see what i'm talkin' about. if not? you'll enjoy it. Promise.
    Short book easy read.

I have always felt that reading Cannery Row or Tortilla Flat will give the reader an insight into life in rural Philippines and to a slightly lesser extent Thailand.

There are so many books out there that I believe a nice little book review thread would go down well.
Looking round a well stocked bookshop i never have a clue what to buy.
Not like that boring "what are you reading right now' thread on the ajarn a real review type thread which would almost prove you'd read the book.

    And Frankie, lets do pool.

Is that the same as the bear's den, which has a fine pool table?

I guess you are thinking about 'Sweet Thursday'.

Have you read 'Off the Road' FF? Written by Carolyn Cassidy, the wife of the real Dean Moriarty.

I've read portions of it and would like to read it. Where she describes living with jack kerouac and Neal Cassidy seems she was fucking them both there for a while. She appears to be a fairly good writer. Also have some of Neal Cassidy's letters to JK and there is an unfinished autobiography. Neal Cassidy was an Interesting charachter in history.
In my opinion, Neal Cassidy played a big part in forming the mood & movement of the sixties, in the influence he had on so many of the progenitors; Kerouac, Ginsberg, Ken Kesey come to mind right off the top of me head; these folks then meeting, and collaborating with the SF Renaissance Poets of the Fifties. Really the birth of the hippie movement.
At one time i was going to put '64,928' as my signature here; just thought it would be waaaay too obscure.
I've been toying with the idea of an essay, or article, on this street thug's influence on society. A tenuous connection but one that, as you read the history of the times, becomes undeniable.
Spent a good deal of time in Vesuvios and the City Lights Books store. And specs? Great little dive. You'd be sippin' a suds and maybe it'd dawn on you. You were sitting in the cradle of one of the most tumultuous times in recent history. Coupla more beers and all that faded into the shadows unless the little hottie you're hittin on had some pretentious beatnik bent.

    btw--
Just realized I've spelled the dudes name wrong throughout the post; Neal Cassady
