    So we have a problem!

    1. The maid got bitten today by a street dog.

    2. She come home and I told my wife to take her to the local GP for shots.

    3. The wife told me another 20,000 baht is needed over 5 treatments to treat the problem. She produced her Taksin created medical card but no good in Pattaya. Another thank you to the goon who done fuck all for Thailand.

    4. I will pay it as the maid is a valued part of our family but how can these councils who are supposed to be protecting us let these savage disease riddled dogs run and breed rampant under their noses. I see almost daily dangerous events caused by these pitiful creatures that are the councils responsibility and the people in charge do fuck all to solve the problem.

    5. I am not Thai but when will the Thai's that are paying taxes realise that the people they put in power don't give a fuck about anything apart from their next back pocket wedge and ignoring to do the job they were put in power to do...........

    6. This country is run by the most corrupt selfish group of gangsters in the world bar none!

Well that's me done for another day in Paradise!

Doubt the strays are handing out backhanders so likely a mix of incompetence and religious beliefs.

    Pattaya Bangkok Hospital I presume.

Missus was bit in the foot by a soi dog 5-6 years ago and she paid less than 1000 baht for 5 shots in a reasonably priced private hospital.

My large and extended Thai family knows that and accepts it as status quo, they laugh at the cops, and at the government, saying (in private of course) that the corruption runs rampant and "it is just the way things are done". Along the lines of "we've always done it this way"

When I ask them why they accept it? - they draw a blank.

You're being ripped off. That's far too much.

If you're talking about the 30 Baht scheme (or whatever it's called these days, Universal health Scheme?) it's only valid for the region the holder is registered as living in and, possibly - can't remember for sure - a named hospital, you can hardly blame Thaksin for your maid not keeping her details up to date. say what you like about Thaksin his 30 baht scheme was a genuine boon for Thailand.

    * Rabies post-exposure treatment is costly especially when rabies immunoglobulin (RIG) is required. In our clinic, the cost of rabies vaccine is around 400 baht per shot and the rabies immunoglobulin (ERIG) is approx 2500-5000 baht (depend on the body weight).

    It's cool you're paying, but shouldn't you/your missus/the maid/the neighbors addressed before this?

Had the series a few years ago at the district hospital. It was 1500 baht for the five injections. The nurses apologized profusely for the high cost. I wasn’t even complaining.

And if you ask for the Thai version of the menu it'll be only 50 baht and 350 Baht

No mate she is in quite a bit of pain at the moment.

She could have posted her plight on an anonymous internet forum and asked for donations to cover her costs!

Seems that has worked before for others incluing your.................

Thank you for the other helpful advice!

Could be influenced by religion but more likely they're plain and simple greedy corrupt cnuts that don't care a shit for others.

The absurdly expensive rabies jab is one of the oldest scams in the LOS Playbook.

Surprised anyone but a noob would fall for it.

Indeed. I've paid out numerous times when village kids have been bitten and can't remember the price, it was petty cash.
