    Stupidity is contagious

Marvel at the multiple levels of fuckwittery on display here.

The parents of a two year old boy say they will press charges after a civilian volunteer policeman in Chon Buri struck him with his baton while trying to beat the parents for trying to dodge a traffic checkpoint.

The incident took place last night.

The couple say the volunteer didn’t notice the boy sitting between them on their motorcycle when he assaulted them for making a U-turn when they spotted the checkpoint on Soi Khao Talo.

He struck the toddler on the head, knocking him unconscious and opening a 10 centimetre wound that took three stitches to close. The boy repeatedly vomited afterwards, indicating a concussion, and was found to have bleeding on the brain.

His 25 year old mother said she would file a complaint with police.

“We were just avoiding the checkpoint so we wouldn’t have to pay a fine,” she said in tears.

“Is that so serious a crime that you have to overreact like that? Now I’m just worried about my son’s health. He’s my only child. I want justice for him.”

The incident went public when a person who met the couple at Bang Lamung Hospital posted the details on Facebook.

Right, so failing to stop at a police checkpoint while driving an overloaded motorbike + kid and no one wearing helmets.

The need to show perceived authority, status. Just like the uniformed parking attendants with their whistles and frantic hand gestures.

He did not give the kid a concussion for any of the reasons you insinuate.
The article clearly states that he did not know the kid was there . which is a reasonable excuse since this was a motorcycle and he had no reason to think that there will be a kid hidden in between them.
So it was an accident, one that the parents contributed to.
If anyone is to blame would be the parents who should be arrested for endangering a minor.
In the US if a minor is killed in a car accident because he/she was not wearing a seatbelt, the driver can be charged.
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.

I think you missed my sarcasm aimed at foolbar who seemed to condone the action, and even speculated about how it came about.

Every Thai in the country knows what can happen when you run a police checkpoint.

I've actually seen cops do that but while riding a police motorbike alongside the couple of civilians on the other bike.

I saw a cop come out of a police booth at a major highway intersection and flog a helmetless rider in the head with a baton. The guy was trying to get the bike off the highway while he was being beaten ‘round the head. Once the bike was off the road, the cop threw it on the ground. Too bad the light changed and I had to drive away.

Don’t know what the story was, but there were lots of bikes out there and the cop zeroed on the one guy.

Firstly I would appreciate not editing my quotes. Secondly, I can only talk about what I know, which is the US, and I would hope you do the same. Yea I know , fat chance,

Giving bullies a uniform, peaked cap, a whistle and a baton is the Thai version of anger management classes.

Fair point, and one hopes the cop genuinely did not know the kid was there, so let's say he wasn't; does that justify a baton charge against the parents?
