Now that's some fairly expensive soap - however, THB 20k, well, almost lasts me a solid week.

we have a word in English - we call it "Masochism"

There are some folk that enjoy living in a fifth story walk up concrete box disguised as accommodations dining on a handful of rice, mama noodles and ozone scrubbed water - they get a great deal of enjoyment in the bragging rights of how "cheap" they "can" (not necessarily do) live.

Some foreigners (actually many I think), live on a few hundred baht each day because they have no choice - they don't have the money to rent a nice condo/house, eat out in expensive restaurants etc.

But what about those who do have the funds, but choose not to spend it? Is that being stupid? I don't think so.

I can afford to rent a nice house near/on the beach somewhere. I can afford to pay for fat hookers. But I choose not to waste my cash on these items - I'm simply not interested to spend my cash in that manner. I enjoy a relatively simple life in Thailand, eating healthy food, enjoying exercise, visit rural places in my car (but never national parks) etc. I spend shockingly little each month.

Yep, same here, I am used to a frugal life. Haven't felt the need to be otherwise here, after an initial period of indulging years ago.
I like it that the money lasts longer, so I have to work less

Bit of a difference between eating mama noodles because you like them and because that's all you can afford.....

It's gonna be hard to live on $600 a month once Taco Bell opens in Thailand.

While I treat myself to imported steak and a bottle of drinkable wine occasionally, I don’t spend a great deal on myself. My income is sufficient that I don’t have too many things to worry about.

I did splash out on a mountain bike. Chinese and it cost a whopping 80 quid in real money.

Seeing my lads happy on Christmas morning was enough for me today. I did share my marmite on toast with the MIL today. I can cross her off the list of potential thieves anyway. The Tesco tea bags are hidden too. lol

After paying for house and bike/car rent credit, health cover, plus utilities, one can live comfortably on 30k a month anywhere in the kingdom.

However, the OP topic title point, is about those farangs who are compelled to live on approx. 19-21K-baht/mo.,

...and how well of a comfortable lifestyle they can develop for themselves,...in the Kingdom,...in these present times...
