Not sure mugging is that common a sport in the slums. More likely on Sukhumvit by the taxi boys.

Well fortunately I do not live in the Sticks.... I am too Americanized for that. I have expectations. I would get up and knock back a Glenmorangie 18 or 21, Dress in some camo pants, not going down the path of VJJ on the side. Just drink more Scotch or bourbon.....easier and far less work and headaches...HAHAHA

She was 30 when we met and has always been wiser than her age. In terms of assimilating overseas she was with me for quite a bit of time in Singapore, then three years in Dubai, then six months in Australia, then a year in Arizona, then eight months traveling the world and now we've been in northern Thailand for seven months. Each time I've taken her somewhere to live it has only been a matter of a couple of weeks before she had the confidence to venture out shopping, using an ATM (apart from me), sightseeing, etc on her own. While she doesn't drive, taking public transport including taxis/UBER/etc she took in her stride. Probably the only thing I can think of atm of what may have changed in her is that outside of Thailand she began to see the gulf between the haves and have nots. It was only after the Dubai time she acknowledged she had not previously recognized it in Thailand, despite her now agreeing the disparity is huge here. She now has a level of sympathy and understanding for those less well off and provides donations and tips, two things she never previously did. She is no hi-so, had a very difficult beginning to life...she was born into poverty, no dairy for the first two years and she and her family lived in a truck till she was five. Now just over forty and considers she had had the most wonderful and charmed life.
Fairly similar to my wife (same age, too). Not quite so intrepid though. Still wants me to hold her hand crossing the road and in NZ would rarely venture out by herself.
Very poor background, put herself through university and started the climb to a career. She has always known about the wealth divide in a Thai accepting way, but her overseas experiences since our relationship began, living in Thailand has made her quite antsi Thai elite, corruption, institutionalised dumbness etc. Rejects Budhism casually and prefers to tam boon by direct help to the unfortunate.
She is very proud of my 24 yo son. Loves to show people photos of selfies he's made with 3 different PM's and ex PMs of NZ over the last few years, and revels in telling her friends how it's quite possible for an ordinary citizen to do that in NZ.
Loves the genuine freedom of speech in NZ and the fact that the majority respect the law right down to the most minor of traffic rules. Loves it, and so now is quite disparaging of her fellow Thai when it comes to traffic. Despises old friends who are incredulous that she usually dresses down ("Why do you wear that? Your husband is farang!" sort of reactions), and her usual company is with intelligent people who don't judge her by her clothes or that she was born in a ban nok.
Some of this is due to spending time in NZ, but some, I'm sure is innate.
    I'm a lucky man.

In Murika the common use of duct tape on a woman who yaks too much is common practice. ( BTW, I brought back 7 rolls...)

^ it's not "know-all", fool. It's simple pride in someone and stating fact
Sad you resent my good fortune . Obvious conclusions as to your luck would best not be mentioned.

That must bring it to 3 different names I've redded you under, just today

Actually, quite possible. My FIL (passed) always harped on me about pickpockets, thieves and the big old "Rich Falang" target on my back.

Wrong guess, minus 5. Far too prepared and I'm well cashed up. Do realize it takes balls to live in a foreign dictatorship. If you don't have a well thought out plan b and escape, you're toast.

    Multi of who? Any guesses?

There has been rather a large infiltration of Multis and sleeper usernames in the last couple of days.

Smeg in his command bunker (Makka D's in Sidcup) been planning Operation Jingle Bells for a year perhaps?

I thought you would be down with local old timers and simply use a stick. One end for scrubbing your stumps and the other for untangling clinkers from your hairy toot.

The no contract/being laid off wasn't down to bureaucratic changes?

Isn't it a thread about poster's local wives?
On the flipside, do you make a good American wife, Tom?

Toothbrushes are no problem, aisle 3 next to the Maple syrup and Chocolate. Bring your Sealy Posturepedic though, you can't buy matresses here and Yanks don't sleep on the floor
