Yup, let's here it for statistical data... present the set of statistics to support your agenda, hmm... just who paid for the study, you ask, eh?
Anyway, regardless of the environmental "footprint" the horrible unsightliness of discarded plastic says it all. And, it ain't so much the bags, styrene containers, styrofoam, utensils, plastic components, piles of garbage, collections of plastic of any type... UGLY, UGLY, UGLY, and in your face, hence the attention.
Lots of research into "biodegradable plastics", plastic-eating bacteria, hybrid organic/plastic materials, degraded plastic w/short life cycles, recycling plastic, etc. To date, all the research has provided a few "cost-prohibitive" solutions to the growing problem.
Plastic grocery bags, like the water bottle security seals, are being acted upon only because there is a viable revenue source in addressing the problem.
Mandatory recycling of materials (all materials) is the solution. But, businesses and civilization in general need to be dragged "kicking and screaming" into a recyclable mentality.
Yes, but mandatory reduction in plastics also.
I was going to say that not all plastics are viably recyclable, but that's not true. A bit of a tangent, these plastic brick machines use all plastics, including vinyl and polystyrene.
There are several versions of this type of machine. One I was interested in last year fits into a 40 foot shipping container. Thailand needs some of these machines. It would be a great enterprise for the government to get behind. Thermal properties of these bricks is an advantage for Thailand too.
Obviously, you are a Thai,...yourself,...eh?
On my way to Thailand to stock up on free plastic bags while I still can.
My (irrefutable) experience,...ok? Fyi ~ I have held more English language (although brief) discussions with more Sino-Thai customers @ Villa Market, than any other shopping venue.
In fact, it is the Thai customers (themselves) who initiate those exchanges, despite their assumptions that I might be a native African. I presumed, of course, that Thais approach me...
only,...in the absence of a Farang Kao to approach,...usually their (Thai) preferred,...first choice of a foreigner,...to approach, instead. Hopefully, I've answered your question,...w/ a bonus tidbit...
Oh, I know who you are now, you were the guy putting all my shopping into plastic bags when I lived in BKK.
Was in Villa today while in Bkk. Not only did the gal sell me Contreau and Grand Marnier at 3:30pm she also put all my other stuff in Villa plastic bags and said Thanks!..
"Loss Lips"? Do you mean Gloss Lips, like what you put on for customers at Villa, Ben?
Have you tried a plastic bag on you head
It might cure your loss lips
